The writing is sometimes a little dull, with overly dramatic comparisons that intend to be romantic but end up being boring and plain weird. With that being said, most characters are extremely uninteresting, the main couple included. In fact, the only characters that sounded somewhat promising were Gregory and Lacey. The plot unfolds predictably and it doesn't help that the version I read was horribly translated. Jesus Christ said that one of the clear identifying marks of His followers would be the fervent love they have for one another (John 13:34-35). He went on to teach that “he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” (1 John 4:20). I was somewhat interested in Gregory, Ivy's stepbrother (her mother the hairdresser marries Gregory's father the wealthy...what is he?) It was getting kind of.."Cruel Intentions-y", but it was almost intriguing. So this book starts off with... a car crash, after a dance or prom followed by an uncomfortable make-out session and one-sided "I love you" confession. Which, then ends up being... THE car crash which I guess was meant as the climax of the book...?

Even though I absolutely love angel books, I didn't go into reading this with much thought. It's an older book so I wasn't really expecting to be blown away. (Not saying that older books aren't well written, it's just that times are different and writing styles and techniques have improved since then) Las amigas de Ivy… Suzanne me caía muy mal, se me hizo muy superficial y un mala influencia para ella. I got oh, almost 20% in. I got to where Tristan answered a want-ad for Ivy's cat. Really. Please. The entire book feels like a thirteen year old girl who might have an IDEA of what Hollywood expects of young romance would write. Felt like Dawson's creek about five years younger. Too many characters talking all at once, and not like teenagers talk anyway.
