About this deal

Every match is under the control of Match Officials who consist of the Referee and two Touch Judges. Additional persons, as authorised by the match organisers may include the referee and/or touch judge reserve, an official to assist the Referee in making decisions by using technological devices, the time keeper, the Match Doctor, the team doctors, the non-playing members of the teams and the ball persons. f) The referee must blow the whistle when the ball or the ball-carrier touches the referee and either team gains an advantage from this. Exception 2: When the team not entitled to throw-in has done so, the touch judge keeps the flag up.

Seen it on may routine calls as well, as you say, maybe, like all of us, its hard to shake a 'bad' habit at times. The match organiser may nominate a person to act as a replacement for the referee or the touch judges. This person is called the reserve touch judge and stands in the perimeter area.

For me, irrespective of whatever the restart is, if you've used your whistle to stop play then you blow again to restart. Arroyos, Rafael Pérez (2003). During World War I, officers of the British Army and United States Army used whistles to communicate with troops, command charges and warn when artillery pieces were going to fire. [10] [11] Most whistles used by the British were manufactured by J & Hudson Co. [10] See also [ edit ] If a player has been sent-off following a touch judge’s signal, the touch judge submits a written report about the incident to the referee as soon as possible after the match and provides it to the match organiser. In 1883, he began experimenting with pea-whistle designs that could produce an intense sound that could grab attention from over a mile away. His invention was discovered by accident when he dropped his violin and it shattered on the floor. Observing how the discordant sound of the breaking strings travelled ( trill effect), Hudson had the idea to put a pea in the whistle. [6] Prior to this, whistles were much quieter and were only thought of as musical instruments or toys for children. After observing the problems that local police were having with effectively communicating with rattles, [7] [8] he realised that his whistle designs could be used as an effective aid to their work.
