Leading slashes at end of URL

Postby wood1e » Wed May 29, 2013 7:37 am

Hi,

I have a client who has URLs http://www.mywebsite.com/fredsplace.html But they have had some duplicate URL issues in that they also appear to have /fredsplace.html/

But I cannot see that it is possible to re-direct all trailing slash pages back to the non trailing slash page?

So

1) Because I don't think it is possible? Unless the client was using Non-HTML URLs

and

2) Am I right?

In which case

3) What would be a good solution? And no changing all the URLs to non-HTML pages is not a good one :)

Many thanks in advance

if you want to redirect urls with .html/ to the same without the trailing slash then this shoudl do it i think:

RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html/ $1\.html [R=301,L]

Hi guys,

I am new here and I realise this is an old thread but I am also having this problem with one of our client sites.

It only seems to be doing it on the articles for the blog but rather than putting redirects in place I was wondering if anyone new a solution to stop it happening in the first place?

Thanks
