About this deal

Although I don’t personally use this strategy, I think it is important for you to know it and to identify when a player is deploying its pieces like this. This will give you the advantage to go for that player since you will reach the center faster than he does. 2. VWZ Opening Count how many points you earn or lose to declare a winner. If you played all of your pieces, give yourself 15 points total at the end of the game. If you still have tiles in front of you when the game ends, you'll end up with a negative score. To calculate your negative score, count the number of unit squares on each tile you haven't played, and subtract that number from 0. The player with the highest score at the end of the game wins! [2] X Research source Zatu has an excellent range of games and for most of them the best prices too. Delivery is always fast and I have never received a game in bad condition. 10/10 would recommend.

This one is a controversial, love-it-or-hate-it strategy. I’ve seen many players, myself included some time ago, using this strategy over and over, to prevent one’s opponents from moving through your corner, disincentivizing them from reaching your space and leaving you room to deploy your pieces. The best piece to start in Blokus is the V, followed by W and Z, as you want to reach the center of the board ASAP and start spreading your pieces everywhere. Can you play a perfect game of Blokus? When it comes to getting the whole family involved in an entertaining activity, you can't beat board games. Get your hands on all-time classics such as Jenga, Monopoly and Cluedo and get the ball rolling on some fun family time. Family board games When a player cannot place a piece, they pass, and play continues as normal. The game ends when no one can place any more pieces. There are unauthorized versions of the game published under various names, including The Strategy Game, Tetris, Blokád (unofficial Hungarian version with cardboard pieces) and The Family Chess Game. Each player then counts the number of unit squares in his/her remaining pieces (1 unit square = -1 point).

Board Game Country is a place where old-school and new-school board gamers meet to share their experiences in the board gaming world. For example, if you have 2 tiles that have 4 squares and 1 tile that has 5 squares at the end of the game, you have -13 points. Identifying passages through your opponents’ lines allows you to reach new regions thanks to the gaps in other players’ pieces. Be aware anytime you create a leak that can be exploited by your opponents and try to limit their options by keeping them small. Let’s see some examples:The blue player has placed all his/her pieces, and the smallest piece has been played last. Score: +20 points

Blokus rules also allow for two and three player games. [5] In two-player games, each player takes two colors. In three-player games, either one of the players takes two colors or else "the pieces of the fourth color are placed on the board in a non-strategic way." [5] Variations and spinoffs [ edit ] Blokus Duo (in its original iteration; with purple and orange pieces) If you’re playing a 2-player game, each player will play as 2 different colors. One player chooses blue and red while the other player chooses yellow and green. There are many different options of play during this phase. There is little need for over-analysis. Options for play often fall into two groups; there may be one clear move for a specific piece, or the player may be faced with a large variety of tile choices.

There have been video games based on Blokus. Irem was the first to develop such a kind of video game, in the form of what is known as Blokus Club with Bumpy Trot. Released in Japan in 2005 for the PlayStation 2, and one year later for the PlayStation Portable, the game features characters from Steambot Chronicles ( Bumpy Trot in Japan) playing the Classic, Travel, and Duo versions of the game. The game received an international release in 2008, under the name Blokus Portable: Steambot Championship. Blokus is a colourful, abstract game for two to four players. It is a family game, one that's very suitable for children of school age, seven years or older. Players place geometrically shaped tiles on a board, filling in the gaps and aiming to be the first to play all of their tiles. Gameplay One of the best tips I can give to you is to take advantage of the whole board. You don’t get any points for using space efficiently.

This means you may leave some empty areas as long as you know your opponents don’t have the pieces needed to take advantage of these leaks. It is not easy to determine how bad a leak might be for you, but here are some basics you could take into account: In the standard/original four-player version, each player's first piece must touch one of the board's four corners, as shown.
