About this deal

As with the other Arks of Omen books, this is no different with lore advances along with some new rules for gameplay and factions. Boarding Patrol: T’au Empire

Two squads of three highly customisable Tyranid Warriors provide an adaptable, formidable core to claim the Ark. Meanwhile, eight fast-moving Genestealers – fielded as a squad of five – act as an insidious vanguard to a towering Broodlord . The Corsair Voidscarred bring all the toys from their Kill Team set, taking up the lion’s share of the points but punching far above their weight with psychic powers, blasters, fusion pistols, and a shuriken cannon. The Voidreavers deploy light with a pistol and power sword each, but have the option of switching to long-ranged shuriken rifles should you be raiding an area with plenty of fighty foes like Tyranids and Orks.Commander Farsight doesn’t just have a book dedicated to him – he’s also got an awesome new model, which is first available in Boarding Patrol: T’au Empire. This powerful assault force contains three Crisis battlesuits and 10 Fire Warriors, accompanied by a small shoal of Drones. It’s a firepower-first nightmare for enemy patrols, and even includes some close combat punch thanks to Farsight himself.* Arks of Omen: Farsight Enclaves Dice Set For Boarding Action games you don’t have a ton of numbers so each loss is going to sting but that also means each model is a threat on its own. With proper positioning and smart movement you can hit your enemy at range to soften them up and then finish them off up close. Funnel them as best you can — the Grey Knights are no joke! If your alignment is slightly more devious, Drukhari might be a better option than normal Eldar. Boarding Patrol: Grey Knights If you’ve been eyeing Grey Knights, this is full of great unit choices you can play in every game going forward. Boarding Patrol: Necrons Beats me. The Praetorian kit, fortunately, can be built into Lychguard – so you’ll have 10 in this set, who are a much better choice for a Boarding Patrol. So really, the Praetorians on the box should have been replaced with Lychguard – if they wanted to have variation, get the ones with the shields up and front.

The Lychguard and Ophydian Destroyers both have Living Metal, meaning they get to regain 1 lost wound at the start of your Command Phase. The Lychguard’s Guardian Protocols aura doesn’t get to be of any use here, as there are no HQ units to direct fire from, but they have 4+ invulnerable saves with the shields and can score some serious damage if given the Warscythe instead. All models are supplied with their appropriate bases. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints.

Leading the charge are the Ophydian Destroyers, adept at close combat and slicing through enemies with ease. They are bolstered by the presence of a Canoptek Plasmacyte, enhancing their combat effectiveness. But what are the best value Boarding Patrols for the money? You can actually save quite a bit of money with some of these (assuming that these models are the models you want). I wasn’t too enthusiastic about the Space Marine Boarding Action because it basically seemed like you were buying Heavy Intercessors and Assault Intercessors, and got an HQ unit free. Good if you like it, but kinda bland. But the other boxes, which have been announced but are not yet available for sale, look like really great values. What are the Best Value Boarding Patrols? If you’re looking to grow an army from this box you’ve got all the options to choose after the fact. This is another box that you could get 2 or 3 of and have a very solid core Necron army. Now, the Ophydian Destroyers are where this Boarding Force gets interesting. You can have them ‘underground’ during deployment – meaning you don’t set up on the board at all until following movement phases and then have them pop out anywhere on the board – as long as it’s more than 9″ inches away from enemy models. This allows you to observe how the first round goes – and then you can deploy the Destroyers in strategic places, near unclaimed objectives or behind the enemy path if you want to drop in behind them and say ‘Hello there.’ Alongside these, the Space Marine Boarding Patrol that’s out now, and the three further sets recently announced for the Necrons, Tyranids, and Grey Knights, there are even more boxes to come for other factions in the 41st Millennium. Finally, the Death Guard heed Abaddon’s call, with an obdurate if slimy Boarding Patrol led by a Lord of Virulence. He’s joined by a bodyguard of three Deathshroud Terminators, as well as 10 versatile Plague Marines – three of which are taken from the much-sought-after Plague Marine Reinforcements set.
