Will it be another crowning moment for Italian fashion house, Dolce&Gabbana? Let’s find out… K’s magic is revealed after the curtain call, as the overtly masculine references lose steam and a distinctly floral accord blooms over the citrus, communicating a rose-watered barber shop mask that irons out all of K’s creases into a mysterious luxury cream you’d find in a five-star hotel bathroom. The effect reminisces on Aventus but conjures the smell of wearing Aventus into a forest full of flowers. As the daydream trails out, its moving parts get slower and K withdraws into its hollow sugar nest.

As an Eau de Parfum, you can typically expect this fragrance to last on the skin for 8 hours. If you already own the original Eau de Toilette you’ll be surprised at the difference in longevity with this addition – I was, and I’d go as far as saying it’s one of the most long-lasting scents I’ve spritzed in a while. In terms of projection, K Eau de Parfum delivers; this isn’t a fragrance people need to lean in close to smell. From both sight and odour, the first impression of K chimes with the hallmarks of Paco Rabanne Invictus, Yves Saint Laurent Y, and Dior Sauvage, signposting a copycat fruity aquatic that offers little for the imagination. Give it 30 minutes, and something unexpected blooms that makes the journey through the boredom worthwhile, providing a satisfying signature that twists the generic narrative in a new direction. K by Dolce&Gabbana Eau de Parfum is revealed with an irresistible citrus whirlpool of blood orange and lemon torchio, mixed with a spark pimento essence, creating an effervescent opening accord. A dash of juniper berry and spicy notes of cardamom offer an intriguing complexity. But, if we’re talking about who the fragrance is targeted at, that’s men. But, if you like woody fragrance with a spicy-fresh twist – K is for you. Where would you wear it? It’s quite a powerful, sophisticated scent so would likely wear it out to dinner/drinks of an eveningAs it progresses, K becomes slightly softer, rounder and more synthetic overall, but without ever becoming annoying. This also differentiates him from many others, which will eventually have to be classified under the heading of headache causes. I attribute the slight sweetness, which at some point comes to light, to a floral note. K by Dolce & Gabbana Eau de Parfum maintains the chiselled geometric shape of the original bottle with a deeper shade of royal blue, highlighting the intensity of a powerful and magnetic perfume for men. The lacquered glass offers an intimate glimpse at the scent it houses. The iconic crown which tops the signature silhouette is overlaid with a burnished silver patina, accentuating the noble blue of its lapis dome and the stone orbs that surround it. Basically I'm a big fan when people are able to get to the point with what they want to tell you. But a simple, single letter for a fragrance takes getting used to. I only like 2 (maybe 3) designer/mall perfume brands. Dolce & Gabbana being my favorite. It just is. It’s nothing outstanding, it’s simple and it works for me. I first tested K by Dolce & Gabbana EDT in a store and instantly liked. Then I compared to the EDP to the EDT, I and definitely like the EDP better. The opening is deep freshness with Blood Orange, lemon, and cardamom. During the first 45 minutes, you get fiery hot peppery note that becomes less intense. Also, the juniper berry starts off loud and tones down after about 45 minutes, but still very noticeable. I like the creamy fig note—it could be a tad creamier in my opinion. What do you think K Eau de Parfum smells similar to? I’d say if you like Mont Blanc Explorer or DIOR Sauvage this would be a good fit. I’m a fan of Sauvage and think this is a fresher take for an iconic smell. You can’t help but be drawn to it. Lavender, Geranium, and clary sage are in the heart notes that support the fragrance and gives it that fresh aromatic scent, especially the lavender having a fresh, clean scent. I’m going to stray off and say that “lavender is under-appreciated by some folks” K Eau de Parfum continues the style of the original K Eau de Toilette bottle. It has a geometric design and is topped with the iconic crown cap, which is a burnished silver for this concentration. The main difference is the colour of the bottle; for the Eau de Parfum, the blue is deeper to reflect the intensity of the juice inside. The durability has improved significantly compared to the original and you are rewarded with 4 sprayers with 8-9h. In the first two hours it projects properly, after that it flattens out a bit but still stays present.An invigorating fusion of zesty citruses with explosive blood orange and Sicilian lemon opens K by Dolce & Gabbana Eau de Parfum. Embellished by the freshness of juniper berry, this citrus blend is enhanced by sublime and spicy touches of cardamom, which kindles a spark of pimento essence to ignite the heart of the fragrance and magnify its passionate intensity. The combination of floral middle notes includes crunchy geranium, delicate clary sage and energising lavender. The sensuality of this woody perfume is intensified with the addition of a fig milk accord, which also lends to a smooth creamy touch. The fragrance then unfurls to a seductive base of cedarwood, smoky patchouli and earthy Nagarmotha wood. Deep, sensual and enticing, the scent perfectly reflects the passionate intensity of a king of today. But at the end of the day, the content is what counts, so let's get down to business. Since it's an eau de parfum and not cologne, two sprayers should be enough for now. One thing in advance, the DNA of the original is still present. The prelude is a fresh and cooling mix of citrus fruits. The blood orange and juniper berries stand out. The composition is already accompanied in the top note by the sweet creamy texture of fig milk. This combination of freshness and creaminess simply skin me over. This is really cool shit! So little by little the fragrance then plays itself in the direction of sweet and fruity. Here the contained nuances are almost indistinguishable, but it still smells harmonious and deeper than the original If you’ve tried the original, this is a more intense version there’s no doubt about that. But Dolce&Gabbana haven’t ‘just’ dialled up the woodiness and sexiness – they’ve given the composition a rejig and added some new notes too. Whereas the Eau de Toilette opens citrus and floral, the Eau de Parfum’s first impression on the senses is warm and spicy. What both still have in common is that they present a great alternative to the fresh fragrances on the market.

Often enough, "EdP" versions deviate so far and clearly from their original DNA that even failed candidates can be given another chance after a "perfume revision". That's why, despite my skepticism, I reached for this once again hideously ugly bottle from D&G, from whose target audience I could hardly be further away by now. And once again, my instincts didn't deceive me - "K (EdP)" is miles better than its EdT and I actually really like it. Even if it seemed excessively overpriced when I tested it. Wrist to the nose and - whoa, what is that??? Extremely sharp in the beginning I'm inclined to wash the stuff off immediately, but I resist the urge and force myself to give it a second chance. So first distract myself for 30 minutes and then try a smell test again. And lo and behold, the sharpness of the beginning has given way to a citric base note, which I find quite interesting. I was rather prepared for a really sweet bomb, but as so often in life it just comes differently. This citrus note continues throughout the entire duration and this is very good for the fragrance. The heart is where I think K Eau de Parfum comes into its own – the addition of fig milk gives the composition a creaminess that feels sophisticated and comforting. The base welcomes more wood notes than the Eau de Toilette, and the lasting impression is handsome, grown-up, and confident.

The flacon has not changed except for the colour and I like it very much. Despite many opinions, I don't find it kitschy and beautiful to look at. Especially the lid, which is a grain here, I like very much In my opinion, the fragrance is more suitable for young dynamics (or those who think they are :-) ), is not suitable for hot summer days due to its subliminal sweetness, easy to wear in autumn and spring, blessed with a good portion of durability. The Sillage is quite strong in the beginning, but then it diminishes just as much, in my opinion more is possible. Flacon: Nicely made, especially the "lid" is something different, something new. While I sit here and enjoy a cool non-alcoholic wheat and the soft sounds of deep house sounds enchant me, the scent of K blows around my nose. This scent is discussed very controversially. For some it is too synthetic, for others too characterless, and others celebrate it. Well, I already liked the original, but hadn't bought it because of its poor durability. Like many other fragrances, the edt is usually followed by an edp. So now also with K. Contrary to most opinions, I'm blown away by the edp and it really has what it takes to become my new signature.
