Hey kids, do me a solid just a little fav: after putting yourself in danger because I vaguely hinted at it, don't tell anyone! Okay? cool thanks. There's a great idea in here but I think it would have played better as an adult novel than a YA one. Still an okay read just not my idea of a perfect romance angle. Libbey, Dirk (June 10, 2023). "Elemental Review: You'll Fall In Love With Pixar's Most Romantic Film". CinemaBlend. Archived from the original on June 11, 2023 . Retrieved September 14, 2023. Elementals was a dark superhero series published by Comico in three volumes in the 1980s and 1990s. It was initially written and illustrated by Bill Willingham, later of Fables fame, but as the book went on, he eventually stepped down to simply writing it before leaving the book altogether halfway through volume 2. It also features early work by Jill Thompson ( Beasts of Burden, The Sandman (1989)) and Tony Daniel. Clark, Nicole (May 16, 2022). "Pixar's Elemental characters remind fans of classic platformer Fireboy and Watergirl". Polygon. Archived from the original on December 8, 2022 . Retrieved December 8, 2022.

Now I heard through the Grapevine that we will get answers to that much later in the book series. That's fine. I'm happy to know that at least it isn't left open. That would irritate me, but I still gave this one 4 stars. If I had not done some asking around in the blogging community I would not have been able to find out that we have to wait for the answers to this. Personally, I think all of this could be solved if once or twice in the book Nicole wonders to herself (or to someone else) about it. That way the reader knows that answers ARE coming, even if we have to wait a bit. I know this may come off ranty (I hope not though because I don't mean it that way), but it was so distracting for me while reading because I kept thinking about it and wondering why it was being ignored by Nicole. Seriously that's my one and only gripe about the book though.

The scavenger hunt.Ok I admit the riddles were not that difficult to solve but following the clues and not knowing whether they'd face a hydra or a hellhound in the next step and exploring creepy forests were a great way to add mystery and suspense to the story. Couch, Aaron (September 18, 2023). " Elemental Notches Top Disney+ Movie Debut of 2023, Says Streamer". The Hollywood Reporter. The connection between Nicole and Blake is instant. There's just one problem: Blake has a girlfriend, Danielle. Rumor has it she harbors a penchant for using dark magic. Especially on anyone who gets near Blake. Johnson, Zach (November 17, 2022). Unfortunately, I was sort of disappointed with this book. In the beginning of the book Nicole shows up for her first day of school and she gets put in the classes the witches are in, but it's never explained who knew she was a witch to put her in those classes in the first place. Nicole herself has no clue and since that was her FIRST day at school how did anyone else know? The entire book it drove me nuts because Nicole never even thinks about it. I want to know WHO knew she was a witch before she did to put her in the classes and HOW before she even started going to the school?!?! The man who would become Captain Cadaver laments being a " superstitious and cowardly sot" a few moments before dying and returning as a vampire. At one point, Hoberg and Likkel suggested that the ending of the film depict Wade and Ember having had a baby made of steam, a concept they fought for, but ultimately did not include in early cuts of the film. This was to ensure a more solid ending for the two leads and so that audiences would have something to look forward to in a potential future installment. [32] Casting

Elemental includes Easter egg tribute to late Pixar animator". Entertainment Weekly. June 14, 2023. Archived from the original on August 29, 2023 . Retrieved August 29, 2023. The first few issues of the series featured typical superhero battles, albeit more violent and pseudo-realistic than many contemporary books were, but the series grew more psychological as it progressed, delving into topics such as death, fame and alienation. Elementals was an interesting example of mature comics before DKR or Watchmen, and remains a cult favorite among many who have read it. So lets get into the general plot which is literally summarized in this one single sentence: “A week into a new school, and not only was I a freaky super-witch who made a glass explode in class, but I also had extra homework.”Numerous Elemental Books Announced and Covers Revealed". Pixar Post. March 25, 2023. Archived from the original on March 26, 2023 . Retrieved March 27, 2023. Obviously Evil: Saker's origin story begins with him CURSING JESUS CHRIST AS HE IS CRUCIFIED, then going on to become an inquisitor, a witch burner and a Nazi. He plans to murder billions of people, but is stopped (kind of). My final negative point is in regards to the romance. I really didn’t care for it at all. It felt too forced, too typical. It seemed to be shoved in simply because all young adult novels consider it a necessity. There was no real depth to it, with it existing mostly to create drama. In fact, it only fed into how some of the characters seemed to be overly clichéd. Our main female is adored by the male; the male is the hottest thing you have ever set your eyes on; there is a prior love interest to make everything messy. Truthfully, I could have done without the romantic element.

They are sent to safeguard planet Earth. However at this time on Earth they are struggling to do their job as Humans continue to pollute and destroy environments through their actions. CHARACTERS: Okay so as I already mentioned there are five main characters: Nicole, Blake, Danielle, Kate and Chris. Let's start with Nicole. She is a dorky teenager who just moved to new town and finds out she is a witch. All good frankly, I liked Nicole, she was not annoying and she get her head straight, especially when it comes to romance. Me liky liky Nicole! Next is Blake, again I did not have much problem with him except for one thing...he cheats on his girlfriend. That is a no no for me. Danielle on the other hand is supposed to be a bad character, she harms humans, is over-obsessed over Blake and just plain arrogant. But as book prognosis I actually found it hard to dislike her. She is arrogant I give you that but really she is pretty likable after all. Kate is the character I did not really understand, at some point I suspected her of turning into evil crazy character but that never happened. The book ended and I am yet to find out who Kate really is. And that leaves Chris who is just an addition to the group in terms of him being easy going and funny. He is that one person that keeps the group alive and gets rid of the tension. Bad News: I didn't like this book as much as I thought I would. Unrelatable characters, too much romance for my liking, not much of a world building. As Nicole tries to navigate her mysterious new school--and stay out of Danielle's crosshairs--a new threat emerges: the Olympian Comet. The comet hasn't been seen for thousands of years, and it's about to change everything. Thou Shalt Not Kill: Deliberately averted. One of the primary themes of Elementals is that violence always has consequences, as a direct reaction to the relative bloodlessness of Jim Shooter's Marvel Comics. When it shows up on-panel in this book, it's always bloody and lethal. By the second volume, even Fathom is sufficiently hardened by her experiences that she's willing to drown an entire ship full of people without a second thought. Elemental (subtitled Forces of Nature in some countries) is a 2023 American animated romantic comedy-drama film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Directed by Peter Sohn and produced by Denise Ream, it was written by Sohn, John Hoberg, Kat Likkel, and Brenda Hsueh. [a] The film stars the voices of Leah Lewis, Mamoudou Athie, Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, and Catherine O'Hara. Set in a world inhabited by anthropomorphic elements of nature, the story follows fire element Ember Lumen (Lewis) and water element Wade Ripple (Athie), who spend time together in the city while trying to save a convenience store owned by Ember's father, Bernie (Del Carmen). On February 7, 2023, Thomas Newman was confirmed to compose and conduct the original score for Elemental. It marks Newman's fourth collaboration with the studio following Finding Nemo (2003), WALL-E (2008), and Finding Dory (2016), as well as his first Pixar film not to be directed by Andrew Stanton. [44] Lauv performed the original song " Steal the Show" that plays during Ember and Wade's dates as well as the end credits, which was released as a single on June 2, 2023, two weeks before the film's theatrical release. [45] Release Shila Ommi as Cinder Lumen, Ember's mother and Bernie's wife who is also distrustful of water elements. [10]
