Matthew Crawley was the heir to Downton Abbey and Lady Mary’s first husband before his tragic death in a car accident. He was a good man who always tried to do the right thing even as he struggled to adapt to his role as the heir and the new upper-class lifestyle he was unaccustomed to. The TV series’ rating changes from episode to episode ranging between TV-PG and TV-14. Everything is mild: Suggestive references, language, violence, etc. There is an assault in season 4, but it’s not graphic. Overall, the series feels PG-like.

Depending on what Fellowes has in mind, we could see the Crawleys struggling to adapt to modernisation with World War II looming on the horizon. Edith sets her sights on old Anthony Strallan. Lady Mary’s virtue is compromised. Sybil takes Gwen to a job interview but they end up in the mud. The annual Flower show has a new winner. She’s a compassionate idealist who often finds herself at odds with the Dowager Countess (they love to debate with each other) because of Isobel’s liberal views. Although underneath their banter, they are the best of friends. A telegram arrives and we learn the Titanic is sunk. A Duke arrives to court Lady Mary, but he’s more of a man’s man. Mister Bates arrives to work as Lord Grantham’s butler, Anna is smitten.Dancy plays the swoony Hollywood film director who comes to make a movie at Downton. While there, he becomes interested in Mary. Madame Montmirail (Nathalie Baye) On Sky, Fellowes also admitted that if the fans and the cast want more, he’s “sure” they’ll “find a way of delivering more.” Neame states: “We can go on with these people as long as the audience wants to go on seeing them and as long as they enjoy them… And we can, you know, do that in all sorts of different ways. Well, the obvious person who won't return is Maggie Smith, since the Dowager died at the end of the sequel, something teased since the end of the first movie. Downton Abbeyis the award-winning historical drama series (it won 15 Primetime Emmy Awards, numerous BAFTAS, SAG awards, and more) from the talented Julian Fellowes, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Gosford Park. Mr. Molesley was the original butler for Crawley House and Matthew’s loyal valet, but after Matthew’s death, he becomes a teacher while sometimes working as a footman at Downton Abbey. He’s brilliant, but he often struggles with his confidence. Ethel gives her son to his grandparents. Mary can’t get pregnant. Bates is a dangerous prisoner. Branson is on the run from the law in Ireland. Another new footman arrives. And an electric toaster. We meet Lady Maud Bagshaw – the Queen’s lady-in-waiting – and a cousin of Violet’s. She has a secret illegitimate daughter, Lucy, masquerading as her maid (who Tom falls in love with).The first season ultimately culminates with a devastating announcement: World War I has begun. This event brings the characters together, setting up the storylines for future seasons. Key Episodes to Watch: There were three years between the first two movies, though some of the delay was due to the COVID pandemic impacting filming.
