Since April 2017, Sunderland City Council has also adopted a new environmental policy in response to councillors calling for a tougher stance against litter bugs. Between April and December in 2018, nearly 7,000 complaints were also lodged with the council around 'dumping of waste'.

PLASA07 also marked the introduction of the Gottelier Award. How much interest has the prestigious accolade attracted this year? Certainly recent developments have allowed designers to really take things to the next level. The entire industry is now being encouraged to nominate individuals for the award, and the short listed pioneers will then be voted for in an open vote prior to the show. Next Robe Generation (NRG) is a new initiative launched by Robe UK, offering future lighting professionals the chance to meet other like-minded individuals and access a whole range of interactive social networking and educational opportunities.Since the idea of the award is to recognise the remarkable people behind the products, we’re hoping for the same levels of interest as last year when more than 30 people were nominated. She has practised mindfulness meditation since 2004, which she has found to be of immense personal value. From 2013-14 she completed a year-long mindfulness teacher training with The Mindfulness Training Institute, with Martin Aylward and Mark Coleman. In 2015 she attended Mindfulness and Individual Therapy Training at Bangor University. She currently teaches mindfulness to individuals and groups, and offers therapeutic mindfulness mentoring. Anyone in full time industry related studies or who has graduated from a relevant course within the last two years can join NRG.
