Yep- Spirituality for Badasses is some powerful mojo. It’s also funny as sh#! You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll learn and grow. Fulfillment, healing, peace, and happiness should never come at the cost of losing our smarts, uniqueness, strength, integrity, sense of humor, or cool. Would I Recommend Spirituality for Badasses by J. Stewart Dixon? This book may not seem to be for everyone, but it offers more than meets the eye. As I said, it took reading Part 1 to decide if I could/wanted to read it--and another part to determine that I was gaining insights--and another part to realize that I would recommend it to others. If you can read with an open mind--you may see a path to spirituality in a different light. I did skim some of the road trip dialogue--and I didn't always mesh with Dixon's humor--but the book does teach some helpful spirituality lessons in a totally different way than others I have read. Give this book a try if you are ready to give up on spirituality and mindfulness because you don't fit the mold that most self-help books target. Spirituality for Badasses is an amusing (and honestly helpful) self-help book that guides the reader on a journey to discovering themselves and their spirituality. Depressed? Anxious? Frustrated? You're not alone. The author explains how he was the same way, until he became involved in spirituality. But this isn't the same old preachy or so sweet you get a cavity sort of spiritual book. It's a relatable, humorous, down-to-earth book containing a liberal use of swear words. If having a potty-mouth offends you, this book is not for you.

Finally! Someone had the cajones to write it: a seriously funny and irreverent spiritual self-help book that bypasses all the conventional and cliched niceties and offers you – the listener and star of the show - dead-on, practical ways to change your life for good, forever. I read through it this weekend & plan to reread it again as soon as I finish this review. I have the Kindle version & I've marked it up already (I usually do so after quite a few rereads). I plan on sharing this book with everyone I can. I haven't tried any of the links in the book yet but I will on the reread. Spirituality for Badasses takes you the reader on a high-stakes, cross country, road trip adventure where you'll encounter a cornucopia of beautiful places, strange experiences and wild people. In the midst of this adventure you will be challenged, pushed to the edge and invited to experience life and yourself in radically transformative ways: Your guide and traveling companion, J. Stewart Dixon shows you the gritty no-holds bar ropes of what it takes - attention, awareness, mindfulness, recognizing the limited ego-mind, meeting deep seated fears and knowing your most intimate inner self- to become a true spiritual badass.Spirituality for Badasses Presents Tips to Practice and Develop Spirituality in Unique Ways. Awareness and mindfulness are often key topics in self-help books dealing with spirituality and self. I have read many such books over the years, but I don't think I ever fully embraced the concept of being aware of awareness . Readers will find that the author's writing style and perspective shed light on different considerations and aspects of spirituality. I think this book proves that you may have heard it all before--but sometimes you just need to hear information presented in a different format to apply it to yourself. Ok for context, my fav book for over 40 years has been Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott. Spirituality for Badasses is now my favorite (sorry, Rose but you're #2 now).

When you've tried everything and are still unhappy, lonely, lost, stressed, depressed, anxious, angry or pissed off at life...A common question Mr. Dixon receives is, of course – Why all the swear words and humor? “I love the title Spirituality for Badasses because it instantly disarms any preconceived notions about spirituality and renders it friendly, approachable and down-to-earth. I think many of us are burned out by absolute truths, cures and opinions right now. So– I’m simply offering an alternative non-pharmaceutical “cure” that worked for me. As a bonus, I’ve thrown in some humor, and to keep it real, a few swear words.”
