About this deal

It is simple enough to change the disks, they only fit one way around so your projections are always the right way up. (Image credit: Tantse Walter) The disks for the Pococo Galaxy projector also fit the Orzorz Star Projector and vice versa. (Image credit: Tantse Walter)

The Galaxy Night Light by Orzorz is an impressive star projector with five detailed slides, plenty of timer and rotation options, and, unlike some projectors on this list, a rechargeable battery. Slides for the Milky Way, moon, and Earth are included here, which give a variety of highly detailed views from the start.

What is a star projector?

If you're looking for alternative star projectors, we have a complete best star projectors buying guide where we've scouted out the best models and ranked them according to our preferences. The design quality is top notch, it really projects at HD quality. The galaxy scenes and colors are incredibly vivid and realistic. You can see every detail of the galaxy and stars unlike other room projectors that blurs or greys out. I also like how it rotates slowly like watching a real constellation, and how you can switch them out whenever you want based on your mood. A multimedia home planetarium designed with a younger audience in mind. Use the time & date selector to see what the sky looks like at any given time. The Ambience Galaxy & Star Projector resembles a UFO shape and has a faceted dome to help disperse the LED over 180 degrees. After reviewing lots of star projectors, this is a unique design. Our favorite portable projectors come in a wide range of price points, meaning everyone can find one that fits their needs.

Additional disks come in a handy storage box which can easily be stored on a bookshelf. (Image credit: Tantse Walter) Here we have one of the most reasonably priced star projectors available. Think of it as an educational STEM toy for young budding astronomers rather than anything too sophisticated. The Pococo Galaxy is a simple, pleasant shape. The model we reviewed had a blue and pink paint job but it's also available in white. (Image credit: Tantse Walter) Before pulling the trigger on a star projector, ask yourself: Are you looking for a scientifically accurate display of the sky, or are you just looking for a nightlight? Star projectors that accurately show off clusters are more expensive than small projectors that may project a single image. A photo of the projection of the Whirlpool Galaxy on the ceiling from approx 2m away. (Image credit: Tantse Walter)We think the Pococo Galaxy projector is a great, reasonably priced buy. It does what it is supposed to — it projects high-quality imagery onto any surface to immerse you in the wonders of what the universe has to offer, maintaining a static picture or slowly rotating image. Star projectors often come with interchangeable galaxy projector discs. These discs are carefully crafted with intricate patterns that mimic the arrangement of stars and galaxies in the night sky. As the galaxy projector rotates the discs, the patterns come to life, painting walls and ceilings with a celestial panorama. Exploring Usage Scenarios Each of the individual disks come in their own plastic case. We can't help but think there would be a more environmentally friendly way to store them safely. (Image credit: Tantse Walter) Bedroom and Living Spaces: Let the universe be your guide to relaxation in your bedroom. Drift off to sleep under a canopy of stars, creating an enchanting ambiance. In living spaces, Galaxy projectors elevate the aesthetics, providing both a visual spectacle and functional decor.

I am very pleased after the first use of this product and it isn’t even all the way dark in our room yet. My two year old was oooing and awing and this was her first stargazing experience ever! From a planetarium! This is a photo of the projection from the Pococo Galaxy Star Projector taken during our review. The projected image is exceptionally sharp. (Image credit: Tantse Walter) There is a timer function that you can set for the projector to turn off after 15, 30 or 60 minutes. If you don't select one, the device will auto-power off after two hours. For us, this is a little short. If you wanted to project this alongside a sci-fi film for example it wouldn't last the duration. We'd prefer four hours as a minimum. Another novelty design that would be great to give as a gift to a young space or dinosaur fan. It's reasonably priced and doubles as a nightlight with a Bluetooth speaker too. If you're looking for a good quality but simple star projector, to project real-looking imagery into your space at home, we can't really think of a reason to choose a more expensive model over this one. There's also a 45-minute or 90-minute sleep timer (that you can also set using the remote), which we found ideal for a child's nursery, as you don't need to go in and risk disturbing the child to turn it off. The images aren't as impressive as something premium like the Homestar Flux — if super vivid imagery is what you expect — but the price point is much lower. You can power it with either a user-supplied 5V DC power cable or three AA batteries which are included. Functionality-wise, this projector couldn't be simpler. There's no speaker, lasers, integrated radio or sound effects like on other models, it's simply a good-quality projector. The fact that it is rechargeable is a plus compared to the much more expensive Sega Toys Homestar Flux as it means you aren't limited to keeping it near a power source. The colored design might not be for everyone, but it's still quite discrete, and a white option is available for an additional cost.

The colors of the lights and lasers are vivid, and the dedicated app still affords you many customization options in terms of color mix, speed, timing modes, brightness and so on. Be mindful that the app is connected over Bluetooth and not Wi-Fi, so you have to be pretty near it to make any changes to the settings — if you're looking to control it remotely from a different room (e.g if it's in a child's bedroom and you don't want to disturb them), you'd probably want to consider something that is connected by Wi-Fi.The projections from this little projector are undoubtedly bright, sharp and vivid. The center wheel at the top is easy enough to turn with one finger to bring the images into focus. There is enough 'movement' in the focus wheel for projections at a range of distances. The ideal distance is 2.5m with a 12-meter squared projection area.
