It's a pity as there is something interesting at the centre of all the (melo)dramatics: questions of female shame and undeserved guilt could have been explored with more emotional intelligence - instead they get subsumed beneath a narrative that seems to be trying too hard to pull off twists and thrills. Disappointing. Catherine has become mute. She has witnessed something so disturbing that she simply can't speak - not to her husband, her children, or her friends. The doctors say the only way forward is to look into her past. Catherine needs to start with Him. Lucian. With a friend he has lost and busy running a bar, he wouldn’t let the one who has ruined his friend’s family to interfere with his life.

Him Go: The heartbreaking book from the mother of James I Let Him Go: The heartbreaking book from the mother of James

After a traumatic event Catherine has become mute. We don’t know what the event was until much later. While reading this I felt it was like one big puzzle... the more you read of it the more the pieces start coming together. Most of his personality was developed around him fighting the inner battle of believing whether Kenna is good or not. He was a nice enough hero, but there was nothing special or groundbreaking about him. I didn't believe in his love for Kenna, everything about their coupling felt forced and forged only by the bond they share through Diem and the loss of Scotty. We’re given an insight into Catherine’s thoughts and you really do feel for her and those around her. Mais uma estreia a nível de autores. Nunca tinha lido nada de Clare Empson e tenho de dizer que fiquei agradavelmente surpresa.

This book, then, is both the story of a life derailed by abuse and a study into the ways abusers control their victims. It took Davies until he was 51 to go to the police which, he notes, made him “five years older than my dad had been the last time he molested me”. While his father, who was now in his 80s, wasn’t charged on account of his Alzheimer’s – it was felt he would be deemed unfit to plead – the CPS affirmed Davies’s version of events. “I had what I needed,” he reflects. “The document from the CPS said they believed me, not him.” Davies says that the writing of Just Ignore Him wasn’t merely an exercise in healing. “Above all,” he writes, “I have set out to tell you the things you don’t know about me, in the hope that one day, perhaps, you will feel able to tell someone what they don’t know about you.” if someone points a gun at me and says "i won't kill you if you read a Colleen Hoover book", i'll be like "well, guess today's the day i die then" I knew I would love it as soon as I read the synopsis, but I was not ready to be bombarded with these intense emotions. And it's interesting to see how these complicated feelings were expressed by all parties involved in this story. All were valid. And it makes you think what your own reaction would've been like. Ryan Wesley’s biggest regret is coaxing his very straight friend into a bet that pushed the boundaries of their relationship. Now, with their college teams set to face off at the national championship, he’ll finally get a chance to apologize. But all it takes is one look at his longtime crush, and the ache is stronger than ever.Ledger, on the other hand, who just met this woman, who's known her for all but 20 minutes, is sure that Kenna's face is "a work of art" and god, how he wishes "there was a picture of it hanging on a wall in a museum somewhere so [he] could stand in front of it and stare at it for as long as [he] wanted." Not the "face is a painting and belongs in museum" trope, I beg thee. 😭 But it is easy for me to say the above because I had a clearer picture of what was happening and the characters necessarily didn't. I’d love to tell you what happens but I won’t spoil it for you as you need to enjoy every chapter as the book steadily leads up to what happened.

um thriller descomplicado, que vive em torno de um grupo de amigos e passado em três tempos distintos. Há quinze anos iremos conhecer Lucian e Catherine, dois jovens a chegar aos 20 anos, e imensamente apaixonados. i hope those two have fun but i'm outta here. dnf 50% in. thank you for everyone who encouraged me to do this: i love you. everyone who wanted me to finish: i have nothing to say to you. i was told to see the bright side in things, so, on the bright side: i now know what book to add to my worst reads of the year in december, so look forward to that. Ledger is Kenna’s dead boyfriend’s (Scotty) best friend who’s been taking care of her daughter along with Scotty’s parents. This book will take you through a roller coaster of emotions and all the while, you’ll be desparate to know what happened to Catherine.Elle writes romantic suspense and erotic contemporary romance for various publishers. She loves strong heroines and sexy alpha heroes, and just enough heat and danger to keep things interesting! On her first night in the city, she goes to a bar, where she meets a very handsome bartender. Only later, as she is kissing him, does she realize that he's her dead boyfriend's best friend. Just don't forget my two tips if you're going to read this. And maybe I'll even remember them myself one day.

The book is about hope, new beginnings and love. It’s about losing someone close to you and grief. But it is also about family and remembrance. So this is a trope I think is becoming more and more popular in recent years. You've got the group of priveliged friends who come from money. You've got the one who's never fitted in. They all make Kenna out to be this cold-blooded murderer, who hit Scotty with her car and then left him for dead on purpose because she was "trying to get away with murder." Like- SHE WAS LITERALLY SH8T FACED DRUNK. I get that they're upset about their son and they want someone to blame, but we are adults here, people. Freaking adults, act like it. And so we find Davies sitting next to a pile of pornographic pictures and fretting about being caught with them. He imagines crashing his car into a tree and having to be cut out of it, and the shame of the pictures spilling out. He wonders whether the monkey “would somehow seal the bag before the emergency services arrived, or [if] he could switch the contents, by sleight of knitted paw”.Diem - unfortunate name aside (I got the sentiment from Kenna but really girl??? if she gets bullied, at least I know my girl will be able to defend herself) she was a queen. authors who write funny children have my heart and Diem was the funniest and sweetest girl. I want whatever Diem is eating.
