The more you play the more you get chances to go to new resorts! In the game you earn stamps from where you play activities, so you try to collect them all! When you have gotten really good Go Vacation gives you a villa at the Villa Grounds! The star of Go Vacation is easily its setting, Kawawii Island. The island is split into four resorts: Marine, City, Snow and Mountain Resort (confusingly, Snow Resort is set on a mountainous ski slope). All of these can be explored as either your Mii or a customisable avatar, while each of the sports within the game can be found by speaking to NPCs dotted across the map. This was an impulse buy as I thought my eldest would like it. She didn’t really. Using her Mii in the game was fun, but she lost interest in the game and it was shelved.

The multiplayer makes Go Vacation thrive in more ways than one. While there’s a lot to do on your own, the game feels better with a bunch of friends. Go Vacation offers support for up to four friends playing together, which has been a solid overhaul from the Wii game. The four characters, which can move separately from each other, can all explore the world in their own way and without any hiccups. The consistent frame rate drops found in the original game, are happily no longer present. Next to a strong split screen experience, multiple Nintendo Switch consoles can be linked together for wireless local multiplayer. You will need your own copy of the game, but any progress you make will be stored under your own save file. The controls of the Wii version received a mixed reception but those of the Switch were praised. Of the Wii version, IGN's Audrey Drake said, "from Marine bikes to roller blades to horses, traversing the island proves engaging in its own right".
