About this deal

The TCL QM8/QM850G QLED is a very bright QLED TV, the brightest on this list. Unfortunately, it's quirky and buggy, has poor upscaling capabilities, and its color accuracy is just okay before being calibrated, so it's hard to recommend over competing models. Ultimately, the Hisense U8/U8K is a bit better overall for a similar price. Ambient Mode: turns the TV screen into a decorative feature, displaying colourful patterns or your own photos.* Percentage luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 100% white output The TCL Q6/Q650G QLED is a decent option in the budget price range, although the Hisense U6/U6K is a bit better overall due to its much better contrast. Still, the TCL is more interesting for gamers as it can do 1080p and 1440p @ 120Hz with resolution halving. Motion is neither here nor there. I could never get it to the point where there wasn’t a little stutter or judder. If you choose the custom option, I’d suggest keeping it low; with the Lumerian Star sequence in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, higher Judder settings introduced blur with fast movement. Sound quality – Not so pretty

Samsung's cutting-edge Neural Quantum Processor 4K powers a supreme 4K image, and advanced AI sound.

The QE55Q65T also loses AI upscaling by having the Quantum Processor Lite engine. There’s also no anti-glare technology, which is important if you’re in a bright room with plenty of light reflecting onto the screen.

Experience clear picture and smooth performance with Motion Xcelerator. Samsung's clear motion rate algorithms predict and automatically compensate frames, so your picture adapts as fast as your game. Considering the Q65T’s status at the bottom of QLED barrel, its feature set isn’t as advanced as the Q80T or 2020 flagship Q95T 4K TV – but the core smart TV experience remains. As an upscaler, the Q60T/Q65T proved equally adept. A 1080p Blu-ray disc enjoys many of the same positives as native 4K content: impressive contrasts, a nicely nuanced colour palette, and secure motion. I found some of the finest details are overlooked somewhat, and any wide shots of open sky or wide prairie (for example) did host a touch of picture noise, but the Samsung’s overall stability is praiseworthy.Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits) Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits) Percentage luminance drop at 20 degree vertical angle from the centre of the screen with 100% white output
