About this deal

Expect 400 miles of life from the Structure 21, with the wear and tear of the midsole cushioning and outsole happening in a gradual fashion. UPPER FIT AND FEEL Changing the engineered mesh to a lighter and vented kind leads to a significant weight reduction. The Structure 21 is nearly an ounce lighter than last year (for a size US 10). Minor improvements have been made to the laces (flat instead of round) and the Flywire cord placement. LOWER PRICED ALTERNATIVE? Given the overall firm nature of the midsole, the ride is fairly supportive. Unlike some of the older Structure (17, 19) models, the 21 has minimal ride bias towards the outer side. SUMMARY, AND CHANGES BETWEEN THE STRUCTURE 20 AND STRUCTURE 21 Saucony Guide is 2mm lower in heel-toe drop with 8mm as opposed to Structure and GT-2000’s 10mm, with Adrenaline and Wave Inspire coming in at 12mm. The Streak 6 is a lightweight Nike model fitting for shorter road races and distances for up to a half marathon.

The last year’s Structure 20 was an improvement over the 19. Coming to think of it, this should be the case with each update. But given the long lead-times involved in the design and delivery of a shoe, a new model isn’t necessarily an improvement over its older version.

Who should buy the Nike Structure 25 ?

The Nike Zoom Span 2 is much nimbler shoe than the Structure while being cheaper and lighter. The midsole has a hint of support, and the upper feels fast trainer like. It is one of Nike’s most under-rated shoes which also happens to be great value for money. RECOMMENDED ROTATION The Structure 25 is more of a stability trainer than the 2 previous Structure versions. It has an extra heel clip, more arch support and it also has a firmer ride which results in less lean bias. The Nike Air Zoom Structure 22 is a running shoe designed for people with flat feet. It helps runners to train with appropriate support. Plantar fasciitis or flat feet problems can be treated by regular stretching but wearing a shoe that supports the arch and heel correctly is a more lasting solution and that's where the Zoom Structure 22 comes in. The product is also a good choice for anyone who trains daily with a view to covering longer distances as it its hard-wearing and offers good support over an extended period of time. Support On Hard Surfaces

Two shoes from New Balance complement the Structure 21 perfectly. The first is the newly released 1260V7 – a cushioned stability model. The second shoe is the 1500V3, one of our favorite road racers which combine lightweight cushioning with mild support. SIMILAR MID-PRICED SUPPORT SHOES The Structure 23 felt like a supportive neutral trainer, not a “true” stability trainer. I reviewed both the Structure 23 and 24 (the 24 was only an upper update). I found them to be the best versions of the Structure to date because they felt stable and supportive without the firm ride or poking arch sensation that you normally associate with stability trainers. From the outside, the Structure 21’s midsole appears to have more than two densities. But that effect is produced by the midsole paint rather than separate foam sections. The Adrenaline GTS 17 (the 18 is out now) and the Ravenna are two of Brooks’s popular support shoes. The Adrenaline has a higher level of support and firmness than the Ravenna. The Mizuno Inspire 13 is a near-neutral support shoe, whereas the New Balance 860V7 is a cushioned support shoe.Overall, the Nike Zoom Structure 20 and 21 are responsive, well-cushioned and deliver an energised ride with smooth transitions. They are engineered to meet the needs of overpronating runners with plenty of midsole foam cushioning to keep wearers stable and support the collapsing arch. Additionally, both models also accommodate users with broader feet by offering wider width sizes for buyers. The Structure 21 is a support shoe with a harder medial post. For this reason, we’ll exclude products like the Nike Lunarglide or the adidas Supernova ST from this list. The heel has a hard counter which is non-collapsible, and the toe-box has a flexible internal bumper. I’ve enjoyed running in HOKA’S, but for some reason a higher ride in this Nike never lost its awkward feel.

If our memory serves us right, the Zoom Structure 18 was the first Nike running shoe to feature Flymesh. This upper material is made of a single layer of engineered mesh and borrows aesthetics from the Flyknit. There are other subtle changes, all of them for the better. The upper has larger vented areas. The forefoot breathes better, and so does the rearfoot which now gets vented sections over the Flywire cords. For reasons best known to Nike, the Zoom Structure has rarely had a plushly padded tongue or heel lining. Thankfully, the Structure 20’s tongue quilting is nowhere as bad as the Structure 18.

RECOMMENDED ROTATION

Instead, what you see here are staple models which have long represented the mid-priced support category. The GT-2000 5 (now going on 6) is Asics’s stability shoe with a medial post (Duomax). A new heel clip adds an extra element of heel support to this year’s Structure. This is a feature that we’ve seen on the Infinity Run series for many years. This year’s InfinityRN 4 doesn’t have it anymore. The laces are now flat instead of round. These flat laces pass better through the strap-based cinching system. The Structure 21 uses a strapping system (or the internal ‘arch-band’ in Nike-speak) which was also used on the 20. A lower drop seems to encourage runners onto their toes while at the same time limits the range of motion of the Achilles.

An inner sleeve is attached to the tongue, so the arch-band strap is sandwiched between the outer upper and the inner sleeve. Structure is also a competitor to the Saucony Guide, Brooks Adrenaline GTS, and the Mizuno Wave Inspire. You’ll get a similar upper fit from these shoes, but the differences in offset provide varied underfoot experiences. Structure 21 rides very similarly to the ASICS GT-1000 6, with a bit more flexibility in toebox upper fit; the heel fit also gives a touch more room. So all in all, the fit is closest to ASICS’ GT-2000 series. Both the tongue and heel are moderately padded. However, runners who’re switching to the Structure from brands such as Saucony and Brooks will notice the utilitarian feel of the Structure.
