About this deal

The album was first teased in April 2022, when the singer tweeted that her “third & the next are both finished”, one being in English and the other one in Spanish. Then on January 3, 2023, the singer announced both projects will be released in 2023. Kellman, Andy (March 3, 2023). "Kali Uchis: Red Moon in Venus review – elegant exposé of a troubled heart". Pitchfork . Retrieved March 4, 2023.

Especially given the generality of the song topics, some of the songs on this record feel a little cliché, basic, or aimless. The chorus of Love Between..., for example: "Love between two human beings/Can be so wonderful", an underwhelming hook that isn't saying much of substance. Despite its bumping beat, Deserve Me suffers from a similar problem. Its lyrics are pretty basic, a little tell-not-show, and the song seems to think its making more of an impact than it actually is, blasting the listener with flattering vocal runs and layers of harmonies. Many of the nature metaphors Uchis uses throughout the album are also oversaturated, especially apparent in the ambient nature samples that open and close the record. Highlights include the space-funk of the single “Worth the Wait”, the beatsier self-empowerment of “Hasta Cuanda”, the especially baked “Not Too Late”, the trip hop ballad “Blue”, and the almost-dancey closer “Happy Now”. But, unlike Uchis’ previous work, Red Moon in Venus is more about an overall sensual trip than specific songs. Red Moon in Venus is the third studio album by Colombian-American singer Kali Uchis. The album was released on March 3, 2023, through Geffen Records. The album features guest appearances by Omar Apollo, Don Toliver and Summer Walker. [2] It is predominantly an R&B record. [3]

Red Moon in Venus is a timeless, burning expression of desire, heartbreak, faith, and honesty, reflecting the divine femininity of the moon and Venus. The moon and Venus work together to make key aspects of love and domestic life work well. This body of work represents all levels of love—releasing people with love, drawing love into your life and self-love. It’s believed by many astrologers that the blood moon can send your emotions into a spin, and that’s what I felt represented this body of work best. Uchis’ distinctive, hazy, slurred singing style emanates a quiet confidence and the sensuality of her music has a narcotic quality, its raunchiness undercut with something else, even when she’s dreamily telling us that her “petals are soft and silky as my sheets" or that there are “mirrors on the ceiling so I can watch you tap me”. Tonally, there is something Lana del Rey-ish about it, although the music is not similar. Richards, Will (January 22, 2023). "Kali Uchis announces new album 'Red Moon In Venus' ". NME .
