About this deal

What makes it our favourite sustainable razor? We’ve tried and compared many eco-friendly razors, and it’s simply the one that gives us the best shaving experience: well-balanced weight, long enough chrome metal handle (but not too long), and no cuts to declare! It stands proudly on its stand in our bathroom, and shaving has never been so exciting. A decent price for a safety razor made in the UK (Sheffield, to be exact), and a blade angle that’s just right for sensitive skin. So yes, you can have your eco-cake and eat it. One of the simplest ways to recycle razor blades safely is to use a blade bank. A blade bank should be made of recyclable metal, and should also have a thin slot where you deposit used blades.

With limited recycling options, it can be helpful to look for alternatives to the standard, plastic disposable razor. Eco-Friendly Options The blade is easy to remove, clean, or change, and the handle is made of resistant sustainable scotch wood. Once it’s full (this will be after many years), you can take the full blade bank to your local recycling centre and place the metal waste bin.

The verdict: Environmentally friendly razors

Looking for more? Organic bathroom products don’t include any chemicals which could be harmful both to your skin and the environment. You can go organic with your shampoo (even for coloured hair), conditioner or deodorant. If you’re not into safety razors and prefer a multi-bladed razor that’ll last you a long time, there are metal razors that will do the same thing as your disposable razor, without the waste.

Disposable plastic razors have been popular since the 1970s, but because they’re made from a complex combination of different materials, including plastic, metal, and rubber, they’re almost impossible to fully recycle. In 2020, 158.10 million people in the U.S. used disposable razors — that number is supposed to increase to 160.16 million by 2024. Although it’s convenient, single-waste plastic is plaguing our planet. Thankfully, some people are looking to reduce their plastic consumption. If you’re one of them, you may face a crossroads with the complicated plastic razor. Note: This razor gives a slightly more aggressive (and closer) shave, and the handle can be slippery if not held properly. Also, if you’re a beginner, make sure you don’t apply too much pressure, as it’s lightweight. When I tried it, I didn’t get any cuts, but some customers raised the topic. However, with a bit of training care, it should give you a clean, smooth shave!Weight: A heavier razor means you need to apply less pressure while shaving. You let the weight of the razor do the work. With a lighter razor, you need to apply some pressure to get a closer shave, and it can lead to cuts. But with the right technique, it will give the same result as heavier razors, while giving you slightly more control. But in reality, it’s once again a matter of preference and many agree that they prefer a heavier razor for the premium feel, rather than for performance.

Woah, calm down there Sweeney Todd! This is not an eco-friendly razor for the light-hearted, the heavy-handed, or the over-confident, as we found out (ouch). The stainless-steel blade is incredibly sharp, but no worries, this is not a scalpel. The blade is designed to give you a similar shaving experience as with a traditional razor, thanks to its rounded head and ridge.
