About this deal

Meets hygiene requirements for ventilation and air-conditioning systems and units according VDI 6022 Blatt 1:2011-07 I always liked W4 mastic, comes on a roll in varying widths. Used it on various jobs including top rails when we had MH. Uncured Sikaflex®-522 can be removed from tools and equipment with Sika® Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. Once cured, the material can only be removed mechanically. Multi purpose hybrid adhesive sealant with high weathering, ageing and mould resistance. Suitable for the sealing and bonding of various applications internally and externally in caravans and motorhomes, including skylights and aerators.

Plus sealant on the screws and heads as you put them in (recently had a leak through the threads of one screw, all of which appear to have no sealant on them after a "professional" job - a worry) Sikaflex 522 is both an adhesive and sealant making it ideal for caravan, motorhome and trailer repairs as well as DIY fitting of caravan vehicle accessories. This is a highly recommended product, ideal for installing windows and rooflights into panel van conversions Anyway, here’s my question: I’ve watched a lot of YouTube videos on removing, resealing, and replacing the railing. Americans seem to use a sealing strip when regluing the railing; us Brits seem to like to use Sikaflex 522.This approach seems best, as you can put plenty on, smooth it over with normal tools before it skins plus it remains plastic over time (supposedly) ? Sikaflex 512 has now been replaced by 522 - the sealant is exactly the same but just an updated version. I look forward to other comments, agreeing or otherwise, arriving soon (hopefully they will provide links to various sources which give examples of jobs that have been done... Consider that the viscosity will increase at low temperature. For easy application, condition the adhesive at ambient temperature prior to use.

Sikaflex 522 Caravan and Motor Home Adhesive Sealant

Sikaflex®-522 can be processed between 5 °C and 40 °C (climate and product) but changes in reactivity and application properties have to be considered. The optimum temperature for substrate and sealant is between 15 °C and 25 °C. This multipurpose adhesive sealant from SikaFlex is ideal for caravan and motorhome construction and repair. It bonds to a wide variety of surfaces and is perfect for those wishing to create permanent elastic seals of high adhesive strength. Suitable substrate materials include timber, glass, metals, metal primers and paint coatings (2-part systems), ceramic materials and plastics. Very easy to use but doesn't seem flexible enough to me and may not fill the gap completely although several users appear to be satisfied. Sikaflex®-522 cures by reaction with atmospheric moisture. At low temperatures the water content of the air is generally lower and the curing reaction proceeds some-what slower (see diagram 1).Hands and exposed skin have to be washed immediately using hand wipes such as Sika® Cleaner-350H cleaning towels or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water.
