About this deal

It seems like fewer and fewer of us can justify spending flagship money on flagship phones, and with handsets like the Redmi 9 around, you really don't need to – it's a fantastic little budget phone, with a screen and design that impress, and camera quality and performance levels that are good enough for a budget phone. Clear phone calls even in noisy environments refers to simulated noisy environments in Xiaomi labs. Scan over the specs for the cameras and you'll see that some of the numbers are pretty different, but these systems have a lot in common. They both have a main camera paired with an ultra-wide camera and then a macro camera. A depth sensor sits in support on both. The Xiaomi Redmi 9 is available in different colors like Carbon Gray, Sunset Purple, and Ocean Green. The smartphone is powered by the Mediatek Helio G80 Octa-core processor while the GPU is Mali-G52 MC2. Redmi 9 comes with a large 16.58cm (6.53) HD+ IPS Display that delivers an immersive viewing experience

The smartphone comes in 6.53 inches size and the display is IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that provides 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. The screen of the device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. We're impressed with the screen too, a 6.53-inch IPS LCD affair that runs at a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and an unspecified refresh rate (none of that fancy 90Hz or 120Hz speed here, not at this price). It's bright and sharp, and perfectly good for watching YouTube videos or scrolling through the expanses of the web. It's one of the better displays we've seen on a phone down at this end of the price scale.

When shooting buildings, landscapes or other places the intelligent scene recognition function prompts the user to activate ultra-wide angle mode. Ultra wide-angle mode must be activated manually. The device is equipped with sensors such as fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, and proximity. The smartphone features Infrared port, 2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, USB On-The-Go, Yes (market/region dependent), and Bluetooth 5.0, A2DP, LE. The battery capacity is different however, and the larger battery in the Redmi 9 is likely to mean that it lasts longer. Both support 18W fast wired charging, but the Redmi 9 only comes with a 10W charger in the box, whereas the Note 9 has a 22W charge - although again there may be some regional differences here. AI scene detection enabled camera’s delivers clear and detailed pictures with 13MP primary camera and 2 MP Depth sensor at the rear and a 5MP selfie camera in the front Realme 7, for example, recorded 9 hours 2 mins, and the Pro version 12 hours 5 mins. This is actually one of the lowest scores we’ve seen since we began using the PCMark benchmark.

The smartphone is fueled by a Non-removable Li-Po 5020 mAh battery + Fast charging 18W. The phone runs on the Android 10, MIUI 12 operating system providing smooth operation of the device. Enjoy more screen-time with reading mode 2.0 with a TÜV Rheinland certified display that protects your eyes from harmful blue light The Redmi Note 9 is an incremental step forward over the Redmi 9, which has slightly older hardware. The CPU on both these devices is essentially the same, but the Redmi Note 9 has slightly more graphics power, so likely to be a little stronger in gaming performance.

If you've got more money to spend, of course the mid-rangers are better in terms of speed, and display quality, and the sort of results you can get from the camera, while adding features such as 5G and wireless charging. But that doesn't mean the Redmi 9 from Xiaomi doesn't appeal at a significantly lower price point.
