The mix 11 has differences in the way the tape loops are mixed during the instrumental break, and also longer fade out time. In the original stereo mix, the quartet was locked in the middle with vocals on either channel, so it’s just wonderful hearing this spread out more naturally.

The vinyl version of the new stereo mix rocks plenty hard when I turn up the volume on my amplifier.

If you do have that vaunted vinyl edition, or perhaps are one of the lucky ones to have an original UK mono pressing, then this inclusion may be extraneous for you. Because the 2022 production team were able to break out all the instruments using, according to the official press release, “cutting edge de-mixing technology developed by the award-winning sound team led by Emile de la Rey at Peter Jackson’s WingNut Films Productions Ltd. Revolver’s Special Edition also includes “Yellow Submarine” Take 4 and highlighted sound effects (a complex and merry sonic seascape, including Mal Evans’ sand-shoveling and Brian Jones’ glass-clinking) for listeners to journey with The Beatles through the song’s progression.

The definition of A Beatles Revolver 1st UK pressing is a vinyl that would have been pressed from the first or earliest masters for this album. Also something to note on these original labels is that each song title was followed by song credits and then lead vocalist. If you don’t have a copy of Revolver in mono, this version will certainly be useful, but it doesn’t quite have the warmth of the all-analog-mastered version included in September 2009’s The Beatles In Mono vinyl box set.
