About this deal

I know it's been done before, most recently with GTD's Pinocchio, but in that case I think it was most to distinguish itself from other versions of the story on film.

Jake Gylenhall is very good in this war film set in Afghanistan, as an American soldier rescued by his interpreter Dar Salim after an operation goes wrong. During the war in Afghanistan, a local interpreter risks his own life to carry an injured sergeant across miles of grueling terrain. Emotionally tormented and rendered near sleepless by his inability to repay his indebtedness towards Ahmed, Kinley finally resolves to save him himself, enlisting the assistance of his superior, Lieutenant Colonel Vokes, to procure the visas.Physical media is not dying at all (in fact physical movies rebounded more than vinyl and CDs did), but the studios are still trying to kill it. Gyllenhaal offers a solid turn as the cynical but still duty-bound veteran, and Salim brings real personality and spark to the interpreter with more skills than the average bear.

Guy Ritchie's The Covenant follows US Army Sergeant John Kinley (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Afghan interpreter Ahmed (Dar Salim). For the week that ended on June 24th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment and 20th Century Studios' Avatar: The Way of Water unsurprisingly topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its debut week. The other time we saw scenes that desperate was when people were jumping from the Twin Towers to their deaths on 9/11/2001!Guy Ritchie's The Covenant' Review: Jake Gyllenhaal Plays a Man Determined to Honor a Debt in Gripping Afghan War Drama". Throw in Jake Gyllenhaal, who was no doubt having flashbacks to his days on Jarhead, and there’s something pretty unique and interesting to be found.
