About this deal

You can connect the Pure Highway 200 via an AUX in cable or transmitting the DAB radio via FM to your car stereo. My idea is to stick it in the glovebox permanently connected to a switched live from the car fusebox (via an added on fag lighter box) and then run one of these Autoleads aerial splitters from by factory roof beesting. A lot of DAB antennas are integrated into the rear glass nowadays so it 'should' work but DAB was inherently a bad technology (I think it has changed to DAB+ now) for handling poor signal. The buttons are a little small and tightly packed together, but the central dial makes it easy to switch between stations and songs.

Fitting the car back together we we’re good to go, the only slight issue being the mount for the Highway 200 has a sticky pad on it and doesn’t quite feel solid enough when using the unit.Composing of a compact, stylish controller that can be fixed just about anywhere on your dashboard, and a discreet windscreen aerial and antenna, there’s never been an easier way to enjoy digital radio and music from your phone in your car. Highway works with your existing audio system using the supplied line-out cable or by transmitting over an unused FM frequency. This adapter, which plugs into the headphone socket on your existing car stereo, has a DAB aerial so you can listen to digital stations through your existing car stereo system.

Designed as an easy-fit solution for the millions of vehicles on the road worldwide without digital radio. While there are no special tools required, you will need to attach the DAB antenna to the highest point inside the car and then connect the controller to the aerial using the bundled cable, which will need to be clipped around your windscreen. In June 2005, the capacity formerly used by the speech services, and later by the birdsong, was given over to a test transmission of video to mobile phones. Firstly, the antenna must be positioned as high as possible on the windscreen and at least 4cm from the side of the screen.

This allows you to scan through stations and select them using the car’s infotainment system, even via the steering wheel remote controls if fitted.

I will hopefully soon be getting a new car with both an aux and USB port so I can hook up both this and an Ipod direct to the ICE - can't wait. Along with the near-identical Kenwood (top), the Pure 400 is the easiest and neatest adaptor to fit, with just two wires to connect: power and aux out.I felt pretty smug about the quality of my install – the fact that the wires are almost completely hidden behind the dashboard is a bonus. The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network. As said, if you have a phone, especially with an ulimited'ish data contract I'd try streaming off that, wouldn't be as convenient though.

It plugs straight into your 12V socket, and its bendable swan neck helps you position the unit, meaning the only wire needed is from the aerial supplied. The sound quality depends on the quality of your car’s speakers, but if they are high-quality, the Pure Highway 400 is capable of producing a great sound, with more detail than you’d get from FM, provided you have a good DAB signal. Save the Highway as a preset and it will make it easy to find if you’ve switched to another FM station.
