About this deal

It’s not good at running apps, its resistive touchscreen makes it a ropey web-surfing device, but is it any good at video? If the Archos Arnova 10 has a trump card, it should be video. Too big and heavy to use or hold single-handed for long periods of time, a UI that encourages you to take your hands away from the standard grip position – one at each end of the Arnova 10 – isn’t doing it any favours. Like the Archos 101, this tablet is extra-unwieldy thanks to its widescreen aspect ratio.

One of the cuts made to the Arnova 10 is the use of Android 2.1 rather than Android 2.2 or an even newer version. Android 2.1 doesn’t offer full Flash support and is a lot slower than its younger more dashing brother. Now that it’s more than a year old, Android 2.1 is positively ancient by Android standards. It’s usually safer to use the Restore button rather than Upgrade to make sure the tablet system is properly erased prior to flash. Once the ANDROID green robot is displayed, press simultaneously the volume button + and the ON/OFF button. An FCC filing earlier this month hinted that Archos was planning on refreshing their budget-friendly Arnova tablets, and we now have official confirmation. Announced earlier this year, the Arnova 7 and 10 tablets are some of the cheapest tablets available on the market, but Archos seems to have decided that it’s time to change things up.The touchscreen doesn’t help matters either. It’s a resistive model, sensing direct pressure rather than conduction (as a capacitive touchscreen does), and is an unusually poor example of the technology. Some newer resistive touchscreens have almost fooled us into believing they’re of the more expensive capacitive kind, but not so here. It’s very unresponsive, requiring a concerted prod for every single tap, drag and scroll. Having to put so much effort in is a strain on your finger, but an even greater strain on your patience. The general idea is to put a paper clip in the reset pinhole of the tablet, combined with a button press. You first need to push the reset, holding it for a few seconds then press the activation button (depends on the tablet model) while holding the reset for a few seconds, then release the activation button and the reset.

In 2013 Archos introduced their Elements series which include Cobalt, Xenon, Carbon, Titanium, [19] and recently the Platinum tablet line-ups. [20] Archos has mostly been pushing to publicize the Titanium & Platinum series which they announced at CES 2013. [20] [21] In announcing their Titanium & Platinum series, Archos stated that each of the tablet models were made to compete against another major tablet range in the market, but at a lower price: [22] On August 31, 2010 Archos announced its eighth generation of tablets. The five tablets were supposed to be launched with Android 2.2 Froyo along with a hold-over release of the Archos 5 without its GPS. Froyo was not released until sometime around December, due to numerous delays with the Archos firmware development team. ARCHOS". European Equities. NYSE Euronext. 2013. Switch the tablet off, press the volume- button, keep it pressed in and then connect the tablet with an usb cable to the computer. It will then install the driver for RK29 Device The setup wizard will display this screen when the driver installing is complete:

Archos ( / ˈ ɑːr k oʊ s/, stylized as ARCHOS) is a French multinational electronics company that was established in 1988 by Henri Crohas. Archos manufactures tablets, smartphones, portable media players and portable data storage devices. The name is an anagram of Crohas' last name. Also, in Greek (-αρχος), it's a suffix used in nouns indicating a person with power. The company's slogan has been updated from "Think Smaller" [5] to "On The Go", [6] and the current "Entertainment your way". [7] The home tablet series includes 7 inches (18cm) tablets that utilizes Google's Android mobile operating system. [14] Arnova 8.4 (8.4" resistive screen, Android 2.1 tablet) – configuration is aimed at those who wish to use their tablet primarily as an e-book reader.I can't find the factory-reset instructions for a device with this specific name. Arnova's devices are named in confusing ways, so perhaps several names are used for the same device in different markets. But can you find a pinhole somewhere at the botton of your device? It should be on the left. Does it say "reset"? Then insert a paperclip and see what happens. ARCHOS_97_Carbon_ARNOVA9G3_Flash_Mode_DSC_0063b.jpg Arnova_10_G2_recovery_mode_DSC_0013_small_bis.jpg
