About this deal

The most popular, "dream boy" at school, who is friendly to everyone. He is also the subject of Ellie's fantasies. But this author is worth a lot, maybe artwork didn't amaze me that much, but it still was really pretty and I liked that it was kind of like watercolor art. Both of them have much character development throughout the manga and they learn to accept themselves for who they are and learn to open up to people without the fear of being judged. First, they think that no one understands their struggle, but then they learn, that that’s not the case. They give each other confidence as the Romance Manga progresses and help each other grow. What to say about the drawings, except that they were beautiful? I must say that the drawing style is what catch my attention before I chose to read a manga, and this one totally lived up to my expectations! So I would definitely recommand this shojo to every shojo lover out there. It is funny, it will make your heart beat very fast, and your cheeks will hurt so badly after having smiled when reading the entire shojo.A digital ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for review. All opinions are unbiased and my own. I absolutely ADORED the main characters. Two beautiful little weirdos, Eriko Ichimura the pervy hopeless romantic, and her crush the handsome, all-around perfect, and kind-to-all Ohmi with a super-fun little secret that Eriko stumbles upon one day. Literally, every single interaction between them was an absolute delight. Eriko is an excellent representation of a teenage girl with a huge crush on the prettiest boy in school. Her freak-outs were the best!! I definitely behaved in the exact same way as her at some point in my life (it did not go away with adulthood). I really can't wait to read more of those two crazy kids soon. Everyone should be able to express themselves – be it in real life or via the internet if they don’t have the courage to go all out in their social circle. Omi – although on a completely different level – has kind of the same issue as her. He thinks he has to be a perfect boy, who smiles a lot and doesn’t really say what’s on his mind.

I love the both of their interactions even though you can see the mangaka exaggerate their stereotype to a point that it's becoming comical; which may be the intention all along. But it also then lead to lots of awkward and cute moments with few of serious moments in the way. The side characters aren't prominent but I still like them as it is. It helps to make the plot becoming more interesting than the start off. At Anime NYC 2017, Kodansha USA announced they licensed the series digitally. [7] During a live stream on March 25, 2021, they announced a print release for the series. [8] Volume list [ edit ] No.The first thing that caught my attention in this manga was Fujimomo's drawing style, I definitely love it. And the story, in addition to the romance, has some very funny overtones that made me laugh out loud throughout the volume. Both Eriko and Ohmi seem very interesting characters to me and I'm looking forward to seeing how they evolve, as characters and as a couple. In addition, two secondary characters have appeared that will give a lot to talk about. Concerning Akira, I really liked his character too! I think his personality made sense and was interesting, though it wasn't that original (I don't expect much originality in shojos, anyways). I know too little of the other characters to say anything for now, but I continued reading the next mangas and I hope to discover more about them too soon. Although everyone sees him like this, Ohmi has a secret: In reality, he is „rude“ (for Japanese standards I guess), rough in his way of speech, and has an arrogant attitude. He is also not honest with his feelings at all. In the first few panels Shoujo-magic happens and Eriko „walks in“ (the door gives in while she’s eavesdropping and she falls into the room) on a conversation between Ohmi and the teacher (who is also his uncle), hence she discovers his true self. The characters in this manga are so outrageous, but at the same super fun and also somehow feel very REAL and authentic. I'd love to be a part of this world and be their friend, and I can't wait to see what's next in Volume 2! Eriko is so used to being invisible that she doesn't know how to act when Ohmi-kun starts paying attention to her (and it doesn't help that's he's fairly emotionally stunted himself, haha). She's SO WEIRD and I love it. She makes a friend in this volume and the reason the girl reaches out to her sounds EXACTLY like something I'd have done in high school.

Lovesick Ellie, Vol. 1 - Goodreads

I loved this shojo! Of course, some might say it is cringe and too predictable, and, to be honest, they wouldn't be wrong. It surely is, I couldn't even argue with that. But I've found it very cute and enjoyable to read. I really found myself in Erinko/Ellie. She made me remember the teenage girl I was, madly 'in love' with her crushes (that were changing literally every month), but who couldn't confess her feelings to at least one of them: one-sided love, when you get us... Yet, Erinko dares some bold moves, and they work! Progressively, she gets closer to Ohmi-kun, who wants to know more about her too. They become friends and discover each other, some parts untold and unknown to the people who put them on the spotlight. As I read further and further it got so good I felt literally like on a rollercoaster. It has been pretty long since I jumped, cheered and really got excited over some manga, I probably looked like a puppy seeing his owner come home. And yeah I just really love these kind of romances where there is teasing, unsure emotions. One person is just really shy, but cheerful person to be around, the other one bit grumpy, a popular kid, with some kindness and good under the outer coat. Despite his popularity, Ohmi has similar difficulties with communicating, so he and Eriko work together well, especially once they start casually dating. It would be cool if the heat and chemistry between them percolated in tune with their growing more comfortable dealing with each other. We'll see! (Am I asking too much?) AAAGHHHH!!! I just finished this amazing manga. It was everything. When I just started reading I san't too sure I will like it, the whole part with her tweets just seemed dumb and characters personalities didn't look like anything could work out, but then... Saw the summary says if you're a fan of Wotakoi you have to read this and I never pushed the request button so fast. However, I wasn't sure what to feel as I started them since it didn't hit me right off the bat (though it does get better). Both Ichimura Eriko and Akira Ohmi had a secret in which only the both of them accidentally know that leads to them getting closer, and maybe to Ellie’s fantasies becoming a reality. It started serialization in Kodansha's Dessert magazine on July 24, 2015. The manga finished on May 23, 2020. After the ending, the series was given a side-story chapter. However as far as the storyline goes…it wasn’t my favourite. The interactions between the main girl and boy had me CRINGING! To the point where it was hard for me to continue on…Hodgkins, Crystalyn (November 18, 2017). "Kodansha USA Reveals 6 More Digital Manga Licenses". Anime News Network . Retrieved May 26, 2021. Eriko is a girl who constantly puts herself down with thoughts like „someone like me“, „I’m invisible“, etc., etc. and tells herself she can’t fit in with the „normal“ girls in her school. With her Alter Ego Ellie she has found an outlet for all her jumbled thoughts and her suppressed personality, which I find really nice. The side characters are not the strong suit of this Shoujo Manga but they are entertaining. The way Sara is introduced is pretty nice: First, the author makes you think that she is superficial and only approaches Ellie to get closer to Ohmi – that’s not the case though. BUT, I find her way of interacting with Reo (Sara’s childhood friend) a bit too much. I know, that’s how a Tsundere is – but still. Poor Reo does everything for her, he even changed his style to appear as a delinquent to protect her. Thankfully she also gets some character development and is more honest to herself later on.
