a modern twist on a profile that celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019, whilst the Campus ADV draws interpretations from its ‘80s predecessor. Although adidas hails from Germany, the sportswear giant treks the globe for collaborations and inspiration on its various sneakers. The footwear is made up of six unique silhouettes — some that are iterations of past releases and some that are all-new for the SPEZIAL line — showcasing a seamless fusion of heritage references and nuanced details. Taking its name from a vibrant quarter in Canada’s Montreal, the adidas Hochelaga SPZL Collegiate Navy is scheduled to release very soon. Guided by their own ‘listen, test, modify’ design narrative with a focus on creating some of the most influential performance footwear to date, adidas continues to believe in the emotion and power of sports as a factor for changing lives.

Since its inception, adidas SPEZIAL has been synonymous with a celebration of archival design and functionality, spearheaded by Gary Aspden and his meticulous eye for introducing classics into the contemporary sphere. The Hartness SPZL, meanwhile, is inspired by ‘80s runners with its upper pattern that nods to the all-weather adidas HRC, while the Arkesden SPZL sees classic Campus tooling fused with an upper pattern rooted in the Lacombe SPZL. Alongside this is the Hochelaga Super, featuring a white leather construction with navy and red ‘edged’ stripes — a detail typical of mid-to-late ‘80s releases. Inspiration for this color combination comes from vintage colorways of adidas Montreal (the silhouette this Spezial mimics) featuring navy and red.Rounding off the collection is the Feniscowles Hat — a modern take on the classic deerstalker silhouette — which also features a recycled polyester construction. Celebrating the sleek and understated fashion of France, an array of colourways and models are on their way. The adidas Hochelaga SPZL Collegiate Navy is scheduled to release on Friday 18th March via the following retailers.

Looking to the more utilitarian footwear, the Hiaven SPZL represents a successor the Winterhill SPZL, boasting a rugged construction made up of an aditex membrane and a protective rubber mudguard.The apparel and accessories represent an emphasis on the use of recycled fabrics, with the headline outerwear pieces, the Feniscowles and Kearsley jacket, both crafted from recycled materials. Flashes of Blanch Sea blue can be found on the stripe branding while gold is utilised for the ‘HOCHELAGA’ embossed logo. Taking on a clean white, navy, and red combo on its upper, the Spezial swaps out its usual suede construction for an all-leather build on this Hochelaga colorway. Three Stripes branding on the midfoot comes in a combo of navy and red, with the city of Hochelaga getting stamped in gold nearby.
