If you really want to steer fully clear of the party scene, the places to avoid in Ibiza are San Antonio and Playa D’en Bossa. These areas can get quite hectic. Although the latter still has some great spots to eat at the far (most southerly) end of the beach. We feasted on Turkish flatbreads with melted cheese and pistachio, plates of delicious beetroot carpaccio and homemade Rigatoni pasta with San Marzano tomatoes and parmesan cheese. Oh, and did we mention the best mango and passion fruit cheesecake ever? You can then spend the afternoon on the surprisingly desserted beach and enjoy drinks from the restaurant until the sun sets. Take my word for it: this is one restaurant you don’t want to miss in Ibiza. For a Beautiful Dinner: Sunset Ashram From its location at the much more tranquil southern end of Playa d'en Bossa, Coco Beach is a classy beach club offering superb cuisine, stunning sea views, and highly attentive service. Add to that its trendy fashion boutique, cutting-edge pop-up art gallery and great sounds and you have all the ingredients for a day (or night) of luxurious dining and pampering! One of many agriturismo hotels on the island, Atzaró is a sumptuous family-run hotel nestled in a large agricultural estate. Other sunset hotspots include Las Salinas where the magnificent salt flats reflect the dazzling colours of the sky.

For activities away from the crowds, look to head out on the water. Sailing and island hopping are a great way to make the most of Ibiza’s spectacular scenery. Situated in the northernmost point of Ibiza is Portinatx, a secluded part of the island that is arguably the most beautiful. Three sandy beaches meet a shallow, turquoise sea, the perfect spot for families looking for a chilled out escape. Small sailing boats bob in the distance and the forested bay that wraps around this tranquil resort make it feel all the more peaceful. What to do there: Explore the beautiful island by foot, bicycle, or rented scooter, stopping to climb historic watchtowers to soak up the vistas, follow boardwalks through the undulating sand dunes, spot diverse nature, and discover gorgeous hidden treasures. Go snorkelling in the aquamarine waters to marvel at the rich array of creatures that inhabit the sea. From quiet, secluded sandy beaches to boho-chic and hippy markets, Ibiza has a chilled-out yin to the nocturnal yang. But where can you find it? Well, you’ve come to the right place! If you want to feel the sand between your toes, head for an afternoon at El Chiringuito. Set on a beautiful stretch of pure white sand on Es Cavallet, this place is pure Ibiza; beautiful white décor, fabulous people watching, and an extensive menu of healthy salads, wood-fired grilled fish and meat, and delicious sharing plates. Old stone walls, steep cobbled streets and narrow alleys all focus towards the fortress, which towers over the city. Cross the drawbridge of Portal de Ses Taules into a quaint cobblestone courtyard before entering the Plaza de Vila – the main square.With the kitchen helmed by master chef Mauro Colagreco and a programme of adult-themed sunset gatherings in the evenings, El Silencio is more than a regular beach club, it is a true playground for epicureans and hedonists alike. Why it’s awesome: Playa d’en Bossa is the longest beach in Ibiza, stretching for some two kilometres (1.2 miles). The sandy strip is wide and the sparkling waters are shallow. Attracting many visitors keen to lap up the sun and vibe, there are also quieter parts where visitors can escape the crowds. Just a short distance from Ibiza Town, there are various activities available at the beach as well as a wide range of places to eat and drink. Facilities include bathrooms and showers. At night, there’s a pumping night scene. Whether Ibiza ever went out of fashion is debatable, but there’s no question that the White Isle is currently enjoying something of a renaissance. It has witnessed a string of scene-shifting new openings in recent years – like the luxe Six Senses in Portinatx, on the island’s north coast, which unveiled its chic Beach Caves in 2022, and The Standard in the Old Town. And though Ibiza will forever be associated with hedonism, the original clubber’s paradise has much to offer a different breed of pleasure-seeker these days. This summer, a wave of new restaurants, like the Ibiza outpost of Mayfair favourite Maine, and a pop-up from Michelin star chef Nieves Barragán, is securing its position as a foodie destination, as well as a party one.

Sophisticated holidaymakers are sure to love the classy bistros and stylish marinas of Santa Eulalia while the sheltered sandy bay of Port Des Torrent is the perfect spot for romantic beach breaks. A place so special I almost don’t want to write about it. Set in a tiny cove, Ex Xarcu is a real gem. Simply a great understated restaurant, with a few sun loungers, next to the glittering sea. I was also desperate to marry anyone in the band Oasis, was deeply suspicious of doing exercise, and thought that wearing a skirt over trousers was the height of sophistication. So, my choices were questionable at best.One of Formentera’s best-loved beach clubs, ChezzGerdi is utterly inviting. The cute painted van outside pays homage to the bohemian spirit of this tranquil island, but this hotspot is definitely hip. A fabulous extensive Mediterranean menu has excellent fresh fish dishes served on the big, bright and airy terrace, and the pizzas are legendary. It's cool and upmarket but retains a welcoming and down-to-earth vibe.

After a dip in the sea, retreat to the rustic restaurant and enjoy a great bottle of wine and some traditional Mediterranean cooking. The salt-crusted sea bass or paella gets my vote.

Many don’t explore Ibiza’s gorgeous interior but if you really want to get away from it all, that’s the place to be. Roam in between the olive groves during the summer and see the almond trees blossom in early spring.
