About this deal

At the heart of the new Cambridge Audio AXR100D is a stereo integrated amplifier, which should have sufficient power reserves to operate even stand-alone speaker systems, in any case fine compact bookshelf speaker systems, effortlessly. Two times 100 Watts are available here at loudspeaker systems with an impedance of 8 Ohm. A typical living room is thus easily provided with adequate sound, and should even more bass be desired, an additional subwoofer can of course be controlled via a corresponding pre-amplifier output. Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 28th November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.) The sound characteristics are of course described by the manufacturer in the tried and tested manner as rather neutral, but with a certain independence, the “Great British Sound”, which is understood as the most important trademark. Cambridge had already developed a state-of-the-art CD driver known as their S3 Servo for their high-end AZUR series. This is the same drive in the CXC. It has levels of jitter rejection and error correction that you might see in multi-thousand dollar CD drives. They also designed the chassis to be very well isolated so that external vibrations that could affect performance are minimized. You will just not find better CD transport out there for under two thousand dollars in our opinion. Cambridge Audio CXN V2

If your turntable does have a built-in Phono stage or you are using an external version, you should connect to any of the other analogue inputs, as the 'Phono' input may produce an unwanted distortion. Note: To add another Bluetooth device, Press and hold the Bluetooth/Phono button to disconnect the current connection and repeat step 2. We experiment with both the amplifier’s phono stage and its headphone output and we’re pleased to report the sound stays consistent with the same bold character traits shining through. It’s easy for a manufacturer to take its eye off the ball here, but credit to Cambridge Audio for making sure there’s no sacrifice. It seems like Cambridge have raised the bar again with their new AX range and the value for money has proven to be absolutely top notch. If you want a bit of everything from your hi-fi but are on a limited budget, the AXR85 surely has to be one to listen to with your own ears. As ever, if it sounds like the piece of the puzzle that you’re looking for why not make an appointment at your local Richer Sounds for a demo?

IMPORTANT: Presets are stored separately for each waveband, meaning that there are 15 preset slots available for FM stations, and 15 preset slots available for AM stations. Under the display, there’s a row of four buttons, each corresponding to the relevant analogue input on the rear. A volume dial and menu button are on the right, while a 6.35mm headphone output and 3.5mm auxiliary input sandwich the amp’s infrared receiver on the left. To assign a radio station to a preset, or reallocate an existing preset to a new preset location, please follow the steps below, whilst listening to the frequency or station you wish to store: When using a banana plug, make sure the speaker terminals are completely tightened before inserting the plug. It is possible to change the tuner region settings for this unit. This can be necessary if the unit has been moved to a different country.

When you wish to make an adjustment for bass, treble or balance, simply rotate the Volume control or use the Volume control buttons on the remote control. Use either the Volume Up/Down buttons on the remote control, or the Volume control on the front panel of your unit to change the volume level. The newly selected level will be indicated briefly on the front display. Naturally, a matching infrared remote control is included in the scope of delivery to ensure convenient control in addition to operation directly on the device. A powerful, fully equipped amp pairs with a quality tuner to deliver a stereo receiver with true hi-fi credentials – the Cambridge Audio AXR85 delivers it all. The AXR100 mostly mirrors its brother's spec sheet, building on it with a 100-watt output as well as twin optical and single coaxial inputs.

Consult the instructions of the Bluetooth device to connect to AXR. When successfully connected the display will show your device name. Prepare the speaker cords for connection by stripping off approximately 10mm (3/8”) or less of the outer insulation. More than 10mm could cause a short circuit. Twist the wires tightly together so there are no loose ends. Unscrew the speaker terminal, insert the speaker cable, tighten the terminal and secure the cable. For radio enthusiasts, the most important difference between the new Cambridge Audio AXR100D and its “little brother” Cambridge Audio AXR100 without a “D” is the integrated DAB+ tuner in addition to FM.

A Marantz PM6006 UK Edition will get you greater subtlety and refinement and it can also be partnered with more expensive speakers. Perhaps not surprising considering it is a little more expensive – and it started life a fair chunk more expensive. Cambridge Audio delivers yet another stunning effort for hi-fi enthusiasts of all types and budgets with the AXR85. Isolate one of the ground paths with an isolation transformer, common mode choke, optical coupler, balanced circuitry, or frequency selective grounding. Two settings are possible which set the correct de-emphasis and tuning steps for either North America or Europe/Rest of the world. To enter the audio menu. Press either the Menu button on the front of the unit or on the remote control. Having said that, the AXA35 arguably sounds clearer and has a more neutral tonal balance, doing more than enough to justify a five-star rating at this price point. It looks and sounds the part, and if this is just a hint of what the rest of the Cambridge Audio’s AX range has to offer, we’re in for a sonic treat. The CXN V2 uses dual Wolfson WM8740 24-bit DACs. These are even better than the ones in the CXA81. But if you wanted to use it as a streaming source with a very high-end multi-thousand dollar DAC, it gives you both Toslink and coaxial digital outputs. Cambridge Audio also understands you may have more digital sources you want to run through the unit. So they give you a coaxial and Toslink digital input. For connecting it to your integrated amp or preamp, You have both balanced and RCA outputs. The final icing on the cake is that you can set up the CXN V2 to have either fixed or variable output. This means you could use it in the fixed output mode to run into your integrated amp or preamp. But if you just wanted a digital-only system, you can connect it directly to a power amp. The CXN V2 is just flat out an incredible product for the money. You can use it with any system and in a variety of ways. Conclusion

Use the ' Skip / Scan' button or ' Preset' buttons to select the preset location for the station to be stored to. The new Cambridge Audio AXR100D can also integrate digital sources directly, as it has an integrated D/A converter and both one coaxial and two optical S/PDIF interfaces are available. Cambridge Audio is now expanding the Cambridge Audio AX Series with a solution that ranks at the top end and is intended to be the new flagship product, the new Cambridge Audio AXR100D FM/DAB Stereo Receiver. It’s easy to guess that this is a stereo receiver that builds on the existing Cambridge Audio AXR100 stereo receiver, but now comes with an integrated DAB+ tuner.Speaker A and B must both be selected on the front panel of the unit for this type of connection to work. Press the Source button on the front of the unit corresponding to your desired source. Alternatively, you may use the appropriate button on the remote control. Like a Noah’s Ark of hi-fi, the AX range goes in two-by-two with the AXC25 and AXC35 CD players; AXA25 and AXA35 integrated amplifiers and AXR85 and AXR100 stereo receivers. The range takes design cues from the CX and Edge to deliver on Cambridge’s ambition of producing what it has dubbed as “Great British Sound”. The range intends to reflect the intention of the artists without taking anything away from the performance.
