About this deal

A beautiful book and story. One that has inspired us to make our own paper dolls and add to our fun together.

use this resource in History lesson by asking students to draw a historical figure and write facts that they have learned I think this book is good for children to realise that as long as you create great memories (like she did with her paper dolls), you will never really forget them. On the other hand, when discussing memory, it can be seen as a big concept for young children to grasp so it is important to read the books several times to children and be open for discussion about the story and the sharing of ideas. You could help your child write their paper doll adventure story in a zig zag book and then they can illustrate it. Make a memory boxThank You for Being a Friend’ Paper People Chain Activity- Start a discussion about friendship and what makes a good friend using this engaging activity. Kids will have to decorate a two person paper chain using crayons, pastels, pencils, fabric, googly eyes and whatever else you have in your classroom or home. The chain shows themselves and their friend. Antique Silver Bear Rivets, Tiny Animal Rivets, Small Polar Bears Rivets, Leather Craft Decorative Rivets, Jeans Accessories, 10 Pcs, ZM2029 When children become familiar with the story they could join in as you re read it with the paper dolls’ song and the words of the dinosaur, tiger and crocodile eg ‘ I’m coming to crunch you!’ Talk about the story Paper People of All Abilities - This wonderful resource is a brilliant activity you can use to help teach your children how to make people paper chains! They will have to cut along the lines to make two strips of paper, fold parts of the paper and cut around the person outline. The resource comes with clear step-by-step instructions, so you can be sure that everyone will get their own paper chain. You can use it alongside our paper doll cut out template.

The next set of questions concerns memory. After the boy snips the paper dolls and the dolls regather themselves in the little girl’s memory, they apparently encounter other items in the little girl’s memory. They find “white mice and fireworks, and a starfish soap, and a kind granny, and the butterfly hairslide, and more and more lovely things each day and each year.” Students are asked about the nature of memory. What is memory and where is it? Why does it exist? Why does it seem to hold some things that are imaginary (like the white mice) and some things that were once real (like the kind granny and the butterfly hairslide)?Use this printable paper doll template to foster creativity in your classroom. Students can have hours of fun using this resource in so many different ways in a variety of topics: Community Helpers Paper Dolls Bundle, Printable Dress-Up Game, Careers Printable Activity, Kids Role Play Set, Printable Activity Book

After the little boy snipped the paper dolls into little pieces he said, “You’re gone forever.” Is he right? Creativity also encourages mental growth and development by providing opportunities for them to try out new ideas and experiment with risks. In response to the demise of the dolls, both my girls made their own paper dolls, the eldest from a book where they could be cut out and designed, and my 6-year-old made her own jellyfish versions! (She has a particular interest in jellyfish, the reasons for this are known only to herself!)’nbsp; Make paper dolls Have you ever created something that you are very attached to? What was it? I love the illustrations - I think it's lovely and the paper dolls were drawn exactly to the rhyme/repetition lines, found in the book. I would think it makes for a great read aloud book with your child(ren) as the rhymes are quite apt and beautiful.

This book was better on a re-read! I already knew the twist, so I was mostly focusing on the mood/message, more so than the story. They could decorate the box to make it look special with wrapping paper and label it ‘my memory box’. Encourage your child to tell another member of the family about their memory box and what is inside. This would be an opportunity for older family members to share memories with your child too.
