I felt like nothing was coming to play because the story was all over the place and so many smaller issues were being discussed rather then that main issue at hand. It’s a brilliantly relatable and ambitious ode to the humdrum and the sublime; a truly original novel that captures the pleasures and displeasures of modern, earthly life. The self-destructive behavior of some of her characters may hit a little close to home for some readers, and I think that many readers may recognize themselves in some of the characters. The fact is, upon reading this I barely remember the names or defining traits of these sub-characters, and that just emphasises how little they contributed to the story, and overall Iris' life.

I cannot imagine a world that I had everything that I wanted and needed, but spent so much of my time being angry, or sad or alone.They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In this story it's almost like these characters are significant to the themes because they are so insignificant.

There’s golden-age sci-fi, which uses fun and fantastical situations to explore philosophical, social, and political discussions in a more engaging way (Star Trek and H. Along the way, they’ll unlock wisdom for those of us navigating our own coupledoms, and for those still seeking their perfect match. Now Caine delves into the real stories behind the gangs we think we know so well, revealing the hidden realities behind the myths.I will continue with her books, but she's got a way to go if she wants to successfully target the audience she was going after in this particular novel. Being with your partner may feel like rainbows and unicorns, but that doesn't mean you have a healthy, functioning relationship.
