About this deal

As with any refurbishment project, working with buildings constructed decades ago using older methods and built to different standards presents its own set of challenges.

The Hides - Situated close to Great Alne, which is a delightful unspoilt village, lying some 2 to 3 miles to the east of Alcester and well placed for access to Henley in Arden and Stratford upon Avon. Great Alne has a local village hall and inn, and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, which together with the River Alne, provides delightful rural walks. Alcester and Stratford upon Avon provide an excellent range of shopping, schooling and recreational facilities. In addition, the Birmingham International Airport and Railway Station, together with the NEC and motorway links are an approximate 35-40 minutes drive. PJ Mear used webersil TF in a range of colours – including Silver Grey, Frosted Fern and Hurricane Skies – to create the geometric design on the gable ends and front elevations. Interpret the ending as you will, but my take is that Peter saw what his Uncle Phil was doing to his mother, and knew that she would never stop drinking as long as Phil was around to torment her. Once he realized Phil was gay, he deliberately used this knowledge to grow close to him. He had perhaps always intended to slip the diseased cowhide into Phil’s supply for the rope he was making, and when his mother sold all the hides, he saw the perfect opportunity to swoop in, and intentionally cause Phil’s open wound to become infected. Stenton p.295. See also Cyril Hart: The Tribal Hidage in Transactions of the Royal Historical Society 5th series Vol.21 (1971) Rose’s drinking continues to get worse. When she hears that Phil Burbank plans to burn his extra hides rather than sell them to the local American Indians, she defiantly, drunkenly trades all of the cowhides to the tribe leader for a pair of gloves. When Phil realizes all of his hides are gone, he is furious—he now no longer has enough material to finish Peter’s rope.Harvey, Sally P. J,: "Domesday Book and Anglo-Norman Governance" in Transactions of the Royal Historical Society 5th series, Vol. 25 (1975) pp.175–193 Ideal for downsizers and offering flexible accommodation, this 3 bedroom bungalow offers spacious accommodation and comprises an open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area, utility/boot room, principle bedroom with en-suite, two further double bedrooms, family bathroom, gardens and two allocated parking spaces. Finished to a high level of specification. The Norman kings, after the Norman Conquest, continued to use the system which they found in place. Geld was levied at intervals on the existing hidage assessments. In 1084, William I laid an exceptionally heavy geld of six shillings upon every hide. At the time the value of the hide was approximating twenty shillings a year, and the price of an ox was two shillings. Thus the holder of a hide had a tax burden equivalent to three of his oxen and close upon one-third of the annual value of his land. [8] A more normal rate was 2 shillings on each hide. This required careful consideration and it was critical for Weber to approve the use of tape joints where different colours abutted to ensure the EWI system was not compromised in any way. Taylor Swift Made A Surprise Appearance On ‘Dancing With The Stars’ For This Week’s "Eras" Themed Night: “Sending You Guys All My Love” Now, Harlow is home to more than 85,500 people and some of the buildings in the town are around 75 years old. To bring these older buildings in to line with standards of new build properties, Harlow Council approached contractor Durkan to refurbish 30 flats within The Hides development which was originally built in the 1950s. The master bedroom is set at the rear of the property with a Juliette balcony with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. Furnished with a king size bed, freestanding wardrobe, and an en suite with a large walk-in rainfall shower with additional hand-held shower option, hand basin, WC, bathroom caddy and a heated towel radiator. The information on housing, people, culture, employment and education that is displayed about The Hides, Harlow, CM20 3QW is based on the last census performed in the UK in 2021. Once the hide has been separated, it’s ready to be made into rawhide for dogs. During this process artificial colours and flavours may be added to make them look and smell more appealing, and they’re then manipulated into fun shapes which can sometimes involve glue. 4 risks of rawhide for dogs

The installation and challenges on site

The document known as the Tribal Hidage is a very early list thought to date possibly from the 7th century, but known only from a later and unreliable manuscript. It is a list of tribes and small kingdoms owing tribute to an overlord and of the proportionate liability or quota imposed on each of them. This is expressed in terms of hides, though we have no details as to how these were arrived at nor how they were converted into a cash liability. This is done to preserve the anonymity of the people in that area, as some postcodes cover a very small area, sometimes a single building. The refurbishment and clean modern aesthetics has huge social value and will improve both the mental and physical wellbeing of The Hides’ residents and the wider community. The project has since provided a blueprint of best practice for Harlow Council.

The end result

The hide was an English unit of land measurement originally intended to represent the amount of land sufficient to support a household. It was traditionally taken to be 120 acres (49 hectares), but was in fact a measure of value and tax assessment, including obligations for food-rent ( feorm), maintenance and repair of bridges and fortifications, manpower for the army ( fyrd), and (eventually) the geld land tax. As with any animal-based meat product, there’s a risk of contracting salmonella or E. coli with rawhide for dogs. This risk of contamination can also put you and others in your household at risk if you handle the treats regularly. Rawhide alternatives for dogs
