About this deal

If you’re keen to treat the kids to a paddling pool this summer but are trying to manage your spending in the light of constant price rises (aren’t we all!), then this Inflatable Paddling Pool from Swim Essentials offers plenty of fun for your kids without an eye-watering price tag. This paddling pool is big enough for the grown-ups to get into as well! The Chad Valley 8.5ft Family Swim Centre inflates in just 13 minutes using an air pump. Filled just 23 minutes later, you can all jump in together to cool off or have an energetic splash about depending on your mood. Look at dog pools, much more robust and come in various sizes. They fold rather than inflate.” (Recommended by Mumsnet user Megan2018) Our verdict

Officially, there is no specific minimum age at which you can use a paddling pool with a baby, however, your child must be supervised at all times. Many paddling pools are recommended for babies aged one year or above, but you may wish to dip your babies' feet in and allow them to splash in the water. Once all the water has been drained out, get rid of any surplus water by wiping the pool down with a rag or towel. The removable sunshade also comes in really handy when emptying the paddling pool as you don’t have to jam yourself in the gay to reach the drainage plug. Technically the seats aren’t recommended for adults weighing over eight stone, but many adult reviewers have used and enjoyed them.

I liked the look of the Intex round family pool with chairs.” (Product considered by Mumsnetter PumpkinP) Size: H46 x W132 x D211cm | Age suitability: 3 years+ | Assembly: Inflate via mouth or pump (not included) | Drainage plug: Yes | Capacity: 350 litres | Max user weight: Not stated What we love As you can see from our list of best paddling pools, there are lots of different styles of paddling pools to choose from. There are many factors to think about when choosing the right baby paddling pool for you! Play pools - normally shallow, these paddling pools offer additional accessories such as inflatables, slides or water sprays

But we think the best paddling pools to buy for families is the Bestway Steel Pro Paddling Pool. It will last a good few years, feels really robust and once it's filled you can leave it up all summer. Brilliant fun for a gang of school-aged kids on a hot summer’s afternoon. How we chose our recommendations Products tried and tested by real parents Offering a fantastic sunshade, this paddling pool can be positioned anywhere in your garden to shade your child from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. The added baby sprinkler is great for helping tiny tots to cool off in the summer, whilst in the winter the pool can be filled to make a handy ball pool. verifyErrors }}{{ message }}{{ /verifyErrors }}{{ The sprinkler is operated by attaching a hose to the pool. Unlike others, this baby pool has a small length of hose attached to make it easier for you to connect it.

Sunshade - For younger children and babies, you may want to consider a paddling pool that offers the addition of a canopy or sunshade, helping to protect them from the sun’s harmful UV rays. It’s also worth remembering you should still avoid the midday sun where possible and regularly reapply sunscreen when your children are getting wet. Another great thing about this baby pool is the fact it has higher walls than other pools. This gives your baby something slightly higher to lean on and is also more beneficial for those days when you want to use it as a ball pool and not a paddling pool. The Lenbest Elephant baby pool is designed in the shape of a bright blue elephant which will bring fun and joy to any baby or toddler.

Size: 333 x 229 x 112cm | Age suitability: 3 years + | Assembly: around 20 minutes, air pump needed | Drainage plug: Yes | Capacity: 290 litres| Max user weight: 50kg What we love It's great and still gets used every year. My daughter is 11 and plays in it whenever the weather is good enough. We had a cheap plastic slide that she (and sometimes her older brothers) used to slide down into it.” (Brand tried and tested by Mumsnetter Trillis) Our verdict Use a cleaning solution (this must be at least one part bleach and five parts water, or equal parts vinegar and water, if you're making it yourself) to clean the sides of the pool. Use a scrubbing brush or broom to make this easier. Bacteria and algae can create slippery sections, so make sure you pay particular attention to those when cleaning. Water temperature in a baby paddling pool should be at least 32 degrees for babies under 3 months and 30 degrees for babies over 3 months. Although you may think 30 degrees is quite warm, anything below this in babies can cause them to be too cold and in a worst-case scenario cause hypothermia. I have one. It's brilliant - no punctures and stored away really well over the winter. Just make sure it says suitable for kids.” (Tried and tested by Mumsnetter AbsoluteYawns)

How we chose our recommendations

Look for the rigid frame pools. You can get rectangular, but I think the 12ft round steel one would be perfect. Plenty of room and you can still afford to get a ladder and possibly a solar heating panel too. Set up a foot bath to go under the ladder so they don't walk dirt into it and stay on top of the chlorine levels with a floating multi-function tablet and dispenser and you will only need to top it up every few weeks.” (Recommended by Mumsnet user ChiefBabySniffer) Our verdict
