Base Stained Joinery - Lightly abraded in the direction of the grain but do not break the surface coating. Sadolin Classic Wood Protection is an all-purpose wood stain for interior and exterior, smooth and rough sawn timber. Ideal as a standalone stain or as a base-stain for products in the Sadolin range, including Sadolin Extra Durable Woodstain and Sadolin Extra Durable Clearcoat. I used Sadolin Classic on a wooden patio door that had been neglected for several years. After thorough preparation ( sandpapering ) the wood I applied one coat of this Sadolin Classic and 48 hours later I applied a topcoat of Sadolin Extra. Patio door now looks very good. Allow to dry for 16-24 hours before applying another coat or 2 coats of an appropriate top coat such as Sadolin Yacht Varnish or Sadolin Extra Woodstain. Degrease any exposed bare timber surface by wiping with a lint-free cloth dampened with methylated spirits to remove any surface impurities or resinous deposits

Colour Range: There are 13 standard colours in the Sadolin Classic range, which are ready mixed, all the other 50 colours are tinted on our in-house Crown mixing system.Please note : Once colours have been tinted, they cannot be cancelled or returned as they have been mixed to your specific requirements.

For best results use a good quality, long-pile paint roller or soft bristle brush. Apply Sadolin Classic to the timber, redistributing the coating after 5-10 minutes in the direction of the grain. Allow a minimum of 16-24 hours drying time before recoating or applying Sadolin Extra as a topcoat. Lightly abrade, in the direction of the grain, ensuring not to break through the surface coating, and removing any remaining sanding dust after We recommend always following the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin. Stir thoroughly, it is recommended that a small test area is applied before treating the entire surface to ensure compatibility. A. It is highly dependant of the amount of wear and location of the area this product has been applied to. In higher traffic areas you may need a yearly maintenance, if you do require a hard wearing surface for interiors we recommend a system of one coat Classic and two coats Sadolin Extra Durable Varnish. For exterior surfaces a system of one coat Classic and two coats Extra Durable Woodstain is recommended for extra protection.
