The reader is a story too in the end, a miniscule particle of Kim Dokja wouldn’t really know that it’s Kim Dokja, it doesn’t have enough story to think that, so it thinks its part of the readers story (or body). But the part of Kim Dokja still retains the power of the Oldest Dream but is now in the story (body) of some random person. Yoo Joonghyuk basically made all these random people that are reading the story of their world believe and wish for Kim Dokja to return, and these people unknowingly triggered the subconscious to dream about Kim Dokja returning.
