About this deal

During the golden age of espionage, one man rose to prominence with his style and cunning, pulling off impossible tasks with nothing but a gun and pack of Cobbs in hand. Perfect execution by Scalera, we really feel the weight of it all and the action does feel relentless, Sir Roland King truly represents the calm in the eye of the storm. King of Spies invests in the validity of King's anger far more than Skyfall did with Silva, depicting him as a hero on a righteous quest. This cat-and-mouse, or really cat-and-cat, chase was dynamic, interesting and actually in the end, quite emotional.

Sir Roland King is the King of "Take This Job and Shove It""invest in this one for the storyline and the art!

S., King of Spies tells the story of the reign of an intelligence commander who lost touch with morality, legality, and even sanity, if military psychiatrists are to be believed. This is a reflective book that holds a mirror up to the very same brutal alpha male characters that Millar has made a name for himself writing about, and gives the reader pause to reflect on them, and just what they actually have done to make the world a better place. The first issue was released Wednesday and has been a big success, with Millarworld tweeting that a huge number of retailers have sold out of copies on the first day. S. officials to predict the outbreak of the Korean War and whose espionage activities had a profound impact on the course of the war. Mark was DC’s art director until very recently and I love this old school spy paperback vibe he’s brought to this.

King of Spies looks to answer the question of how an uneducated, non-trained, non-experienced man could end up as the number-one US spymaster in South Korea and why his US commanders let him get away with it for so long . He’s divorced, estranged from his son, forgotten by his country, and worst of all, he has time to sit and think. While it is satisfying to see corrupt officials and depraved celebrities get their due in the most gruesome manner, the story by itself lacks depth and is too straightforward to allow for political subtexts.A violent story of revenge and retribution, with enough smarts and heart along the way to round it out and stop it from being just another bland and plot deprived action movie. Netflix is describing the graphic novel by saying a “translation of this original Netflix property is written by Millar and will also be drawn by a superstar artist chosen from the comic book world, based on designs created by the team at Netflix. Even with all its warts, King of Spies TPB ends on a somber note, reminding readers that to err is human and to forgive is not divine but also a liberating experience. Now he knows where all the bodies are buried and has nothing to lose when he turns his guns on everyone who ever made a buck creating the mess we're in right now. The first action scene set in his golden days was cool, but the story really starts to shine after it.
