Since their launch in 1977, many parents have bought these for their kids thinking they would be a fun treat… and then never bought them again having been driven to near insanity by the high-pitched noise they emit. In addition to the new shapes, the green sweets, currently lime-flavoured, will now be apple-flavoured after the change proved more popular in testing. All of the sweets continue to contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. Despite Swizzels making a very good number of their sweets vegan, they still have some that contain gelatine, and hence are neither vegan nor vegetarian. Jelly Tots Nestlé has announced a major refresh for its historic Rowntree’s brand and an expansion of its Randoms range. Nestlé says the new range adds several new shapes including a hashtag, a gnome, a unicorn and a flamingo while sweets shaped like a cake, birthday present, party popper and number 10 are all added to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary.

During the London Blitz, Swizzels decided to head north to Derbyshire to get out of the firing line, where they have remained ever since. The new shapes were designed by a Nestlé employee who has worked for the firm for almost three decades and will carefully hand carve the mould for each new sweet before it is taken to mass production.
