Review and literary breakdown, All Readers, archived from the original on 5 September 2004 , retrieved 14 June 2004 . As was the earthly one, so also are the earthly, and as is the heavenly one, so also are the heavenly. a b c d e f g h Brother Yun; Paul Hattaway (2002). The Heavenly Man. Lion Hudson. ISBN 978-1854245977. During the meetings more than 1,200 people across Malaysia made first time commitments to follow Christ! Many repented of their sins and found God's mercy and grace as they became children of God. Many thousands more Christians were encouraged, challenged, and built up in their own walk with God through Yun's ministry. As usual, Yun refused to leave each meeting place until all the people who wanted to meet him and talk with him had the chance to do so. Sometimes this meant he did not get to sleep until the early hours of the morning as hundreds of people stayed behind for prayer or just to have a chat with Brother Yun. I have personally seen on numerous occasions how patient, kind and loving he is with people - giving them his full attention and displaying a genuine concern for their wellbeing. Yun figures that Jesus cares for people deeply, and so should he. If we do not decide, in our country, to press into the kingdom of God with all our might, we might as well consider ourselves nothing more than a club. Our message should be to the furtherance of the gospel, a witness to the only true God and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, and nothing less. But instead, we are establishing huge churches where there are countless personality idols who rob the members of funds so they can build gold plated faucets in their bathrooms.

Those that tend to dismiss Brother Yun in the West are often from the conservative, reformed crowd because we are naturally uncomfortable with the miraculous. Moreover, Brother Yun has spoken in some charismatic churches that some would label heretical. But it's important to listen to the man himself and not just consider the places in which he speaks. In his book, he repeatedly issues warnings that charismatics often fall into. For example:As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly. Have these principles of confrontation followed in this case against Brother Yun? Did Samuel Lamb or the other elderly Chinese brothers attempt to go to Brother Yun about any 'concerns' they may have? a) God is still doing miracles just like He did through Christ and through the early church. He is moving in powerful, practical and real ways. follow this sequence in Scripture: The First Adam received life, the Last Adam is a life-giving Spirit. 46Physical life comes first, then spiritual - 47a firm base shaped from the earth, a final completion coming out of heaven. 48The First Man was made out of earth, and people since then are earthy; the Second Man was made out of heaven, and people now can be heavenly. 49In the same way that we've worked from our earthy origins, let's embrace our heavenly ends. New King James Version There are countless allegations circulating against Brother Yun, but I am still waiting to meet a single person who has been wronged by him in any way.

From my vantage point, the whole debate that has raged among many parts of the Church has divided into two main camps - those who don't personally know Brother Yun and those who do. Exactly as I have been saying for years, the church should refuse building large facilities and seek converts by borrowing attractants from the secular world. Instead, our meetings should be home based and our study of Scripture so deep that we are able to quote entire books of the Bible. The pressures to achieve; and for others, the need to keep their families fed, clothed, and educated, are what most of us live for, not the cultivation of a profoundly inspiring and edifying walk with the Living God that is willing to go into all the world to preach the gospel in the most evil areas. In comparison, what we seek here are comforts, not discomfort, and so, we make ourselves willing to sacrifice the quality of our walks with the Lord. In close relationship to the Clementine writings stand the Bible translator Symmachus and the Jewish-Christian sect to which he belonged. Victorinus Rhetor ("Ad Gal." i. 19; Migne, "Patr. Lat." viii. col. 1155) states that "The Symmachiani teach 'Eum—Christum—Adam esse et esse animam generalem.'" The Jewish-Christian sect of the Elcesaites also taught (about the year 100) that Jesus appeared on earth in changing human forms, and that He will reappear (Hippolytus, "Philosophoumena," x. 25). That by these "changing human forms" are to be understood the appearances of Adam and the patriarchs is pointed out by Epiphanius ("Adversus Hæreses," xxx. 3), according to whom the Jewish-Christian sects of Sampsæans, Ossenes, Nazarenes, and Ebionites adopted the doctrine of the Elcesaites that Jesus and Adam are identical. Manicheism. And yeah, maybe it is a language barrier, a translation thing. Maybe I expect too much. He's telling his story, so obviously he will play a central role. But again and again, I felt like the story emphasized Brother Yun and his actions and not the miraculous things around him. He obeyed, he spoke, he sassed, he suffered, he prayed. He miraculously did x, y, z. But no amount of Scripture or token praise takes away the uncomfortable feeling that Brother Yun stands center stage here, not God. Let's repent of all these foolish things that Satan has used to take our eyes off the work of God's kingdom, and rededicate ourselves to serve the Lord afresh once again. This is what I plan to do, and I know this is the desire of Brother Yun's heart. Out of all the huge groundswell of rumours, slander and controversy that has arisen around this simple-hearted man who loves God, one thing that most people agree on is that Brother Yun experienced a tremendous amount of persecution for his faith when he lived in China. Now that he is outside China, what an absolute tragedy it would be if certain sections of the Body of Christ took over the role that the prison guards and police used to do in China, and we become responsible for persecuting this brother with our words and our misinformed character assassinations. This appears to be exactly what is happening today to Brother Yun. Let us try to put ourselves in his position for a moment. It must be a terrible thing to have to go through. It has been said that the Midrash already speaks of the spirit (πνεῦμα) of the first Adam or of the Messiah without, however, absolutely identifying Adam and Messiah. This identification could only be made by persons who regarded only the spirit of the Scripture (meaning, of course, their conception of it) and not the letter as binding; who lived in a medium more exposed to the heathen mythology than that of the rabbinical schools. In such circles originated the Clementine "Homilies" and "Recognitions," in which the doctrine of the original man (called also in the Clementine writings "the true prophet") is of prime importance. It is quite certain that this doctrine is of Judæo-Christian origin. The identity of Adam and Jesus seems to have been taught in the original form of the Clementine writings. The "Homilies" distinctly assert: (" Hom." iii. 20). Brother Yun was filled with an intense zeal to serve the Lord and preach the gospel, despite the dangerous situation. He became one of the leaders of the house church movement in China, which numbers tens of millions of believers. When he took a stand against the government controlled church he was cast into prison, where he experienced terrible deprivation and torture. During this time God led him to a miraculous 70 day fast without food or water, through which he was drawn closer to the Lord and was able to triumph over the terrible circumstances.
