Raiding is what Second World War commandos were trained for, and these thrilling comic-strip yarns show true-Brit heroes assaulting all kinds of enemy targets from the land, sea and air. Stealthy, resourceful, daring and hard as nails, the commandos succeed against all odds in accomplishing their missions, whether against fanatical Nazi storm troopers or ruthless Japanese jungle-fighters. Commando: For Action and Adventure: This epic new collection of classic stories contains plenty of both. This is an autobiographical work of Mr. Reitz’s time in the commandoes during the last of the Boer Wars. The author limited the scope of this work to the actual war and only referenced his antebellum life in the first chapter or in passing in later chapters. This was a refreshing change from some modern autobiographies of war that spend large portions of the book discussing life before the war service is ever discussed. In 2005, Carlton Books Ltd released an anthology of twelve Commando stories selected by George Low, who has edited the series since 1963. This proved a commercial success and further anthology collections have been published, some of which are themed. To date, these collections are: Carlos Pino Gallardo (credited as Carlos Pino) began drawing for Commando in 1989 with issue #2302. In 2019 Commando began publishing stories with a supernatural or horror theme around Halloween each year. The stories maintain a war theme, but have featured zombies, vampires, werewolves and ghost stories. At the end, one side had to accept that its country had been taken from it by superior force, rather than continue a war that would lead to its extinction. Of course many nations have had to accept that an imperfect peace is better than continuing a war. ''Endure the unendurable'' is what the Emperor said.

John Ridgway, whose work with Commando began in 1971 with issue no 546 Mustang Ace and who has drawn the interior art for over 120 issues and for half of those, he also did the cover-art. [18] Handle this latest bumper book of the best Commando war stories with care. You’ll need nerves of steel to cope with the drama and the excitement, and once you’ve found a safe spot to settle and open the book . . . well, you’ll be hooked. The comics were popular in Finland, where they were known by the name "Korkeajännitys", meaning "high excitement" - it's a wordplay, referring to "korkeajännite", which would mean "high voltage". Hence the tagline: "Iskee kuin miljoona volttia", meaning "Strikes like a million volts". The term "korkeajännitys" doesn't exist in Finnish language outside this wordplay. Special issues of Korkeajännitys based on Finnish themes have been published by Egmont Publishing since 1998. These themes include Finnish Civil War, Finnish War as well as Winter War and Continuation War.a b c Ray, Austin L. (17 April 2012). "Linda Ramone on Johnny Ramone's Fearless Life and Death". MTV . For everyone in Britain, these were the darkest days of the Second World War. Our army, or what was left of it, had been withdrawn from France via the beaches of Dunkirk, disabling and abandoning arms and equipment during the desperate evacuation. While they reorganised and re-equipped there was no effective fighting force to stand against Hitler’s Wehrmacht should they choose to invade. Crossing the channel with an invasion fleet was, however, not an operation to be contemplated without complete control of the sky, otherwise the transports and landing craft would be blown out of the water by the RAF. Containing 10 issues: The Family Honour, Tin Can Warriors, Submarine Warriors, Killers in No-Man's Land, Mooney's Monster, Mongrel Squadron, Roar of the Guns, Duel over the Desert, Battling Bessie, Sentenced to Death! This book was written in the late 1960s and most of what is written still applies today. As the original was long out of print, the publisher approached Paul Dunstall who gave permission to reprint it and wrote a new foreword

Sergeant Stan Scott

Hmm, I don't know. This one just didn't blow my skirt up. I'm a connoisseur of war books and there are very few on the Boer War from the Boer perspective but this wasn't my favorite. The 1st. of 3 booklets in the Super Profile series. Slim, but much useful information and reprinted road tests The epilogue was written by Lisa Marie Presley, a close friend of Johnny and Linda Ramone. [1] The foreword of the book was written by the only surviving original member of The Ramones at that time, Tommy Ramone. [1] Tommy was quoted as saying: The stories featured in this collection range from daring bomber raids over Germany, through close-combat jungle fighting against hard-as-nails Japanese, and depth-charge blasted submarine warfare, to hard-hitting battles across North Africa, Italy and northern Europe.
