One thoughtful detail we welcome is the dedicated driving mode button, which can be found above the throttle. It’s small, very similar to the horn button, but it’s easy to press and does make changing driving modes during rides a less stressful affair. Instead of you having to let go of one handle, so you can press the power button that usually moonlights as the driving mode button (at least on other e-scooters), you literally just reach for it with your thumb, much like you would to press the throttle. It’s brilliant. As you might expect, the trade-off is that dual-motor mode drains the battery much faster. To achieve the best combination of speed, comfort and battery life I found that using the scooter in Intermediate and with only one motor activated was the best option. Switching to dual-motor mode is easily done when you notice a hill ahead but, otherwise, I found it best to preserve the battery’s already-limited range.

It looks like an iPhone but displays the same information found on cheaper scooters that have LED displays – albeit they have a far less futuristic design. From empty, the scooter’s 3200mAh LG battery takes about five hours to charge. Unagi claims the batteries last for several years even with daily usage, and the Pure Scooter warranty covers it for two years or 500 complete charge cycles.

It folds up fast, it’s aesthetic, and everything about it is made to be zero-maintenance. Those looking for a scooter that requires little upkeep, looks good, and performs well will find what they’re looking for right here. Performance and ride quality Speed & Acceleration It’s also worth noting that while going downhill the motors govern your speed so that the scooter doesn’t ‘run away’ from you, which is a great safety feature for the beginner rider who is still getting to grips with handling the scooter.
