The Genius X does command a premium for this technological upgrade and you get a little less in the box. To be honest, from my experience it is just as problematic to use the handle type number as it is the handle model number. It offers a blend of features and functions that benefit us as users at a price that most will find affordable.

There is not much difference in the size and weight all told, only a few grams but sit them side by side and we think that most would prefer the in-hand feeling of the Smart 5. With either you have to power the brush on to change mode, but the Genius will remember the cleaning mode and start on this next time it is powered on, the 5000 does not. As you move up the Oral-B range, the brushes become more expensive, but they do come with additional features and accessories. We regard these as “nice-to-have” rather than essential. The great number of choices you have within the Oral-B range can make it really quite difficult to decide which toothbrush is right for you. Power isn’t normally promoted or documented as it is a small part of the toothbrushing experience. More power doesn’t necessarily equal a better clean. Your total brushing time and technique have a big part to play.Now the brush heads are interchangeable and can be used on any cleaning mode. However, some brush heads are better suited to certain modes and it would have made more sense in our opinion to have included the Sensitive head given that one of the selling points of the 3000 is that cleaning mode. Smart 5 5000 vs Genius 9000 Given that this icon only lights up when the mode is selected, it is hard to tell, but the Genius 9000 does offer a Tongue Cleaning mode that the Smart 6 does not. ThePro 600 offers 8,800 oscillations and 20,0000 pulsations whilst the 2000 offers 9,900oscillations and 45,000 pulsations. I am confident that the Genius X motor is more powerful. I think the Pro 5000 you might have has something in the region of 8,800 oscillations and either 20,000 or 40,000 pulsations.
Technique, brushing time and other routine habits have a greater impact than the number of oscillations and pulsations. Add to this the newer iO Series are not measured using this metric, so many of the newer brushes can’t be compared. I would like to see a comparison of noise levels. Oral-B pro 2 2500 is unpleasantly loud. What about the others? At least my (very) old Vitality is much quieter. Reply A smaller, but relevant difference relating to the cleaning modes is that the motor in the Pro 2 2000 is a bit more powerful and actually offers more movements than the Pro 600.What do we mean? Both models offer most of the benefits of an electric toothbrush without having to pay ‘too’ much for them. From what I can tell, the Oral-B Pro 2 2900 and Pro 2 2950N are the same thing. The difference appears to be that the 2900 is marketed and sold in the UK primarily, whilst the 2950N is sold within central Europe in countries like France, the Netherlands etc. Aside from the colour of the brush the physical size and shape are identical and you would not be able to tell the two apart unless you noticed the additional cleaning mode icon found on the 9000. Whilst it does differ from one brush to another, to some extent I and the team here disagree about the importance.Whilst the Genius is the premium brush it offers inferior battery life. Our testing has confirmed that the 9000 offers 12 days of usage time compared to the 18 days on the Smart 6. The 600 comes in light Blue or Pink whilst the Pro 2 2000 comes in a dark Blue or Pink. Both have gloss white plastic bodies.
