About this deal

Welcome to the @regancipher review of OneOdio's over-ear hybrid ANC headphones, the upgraded for 2022 Focus A10. With the glut of TWS passing through the RC test bench, it has been a while since I've documented a review of a wired/wireless headphone here at Headfi - the last ones being the Soundcore Q series and Tronsmart Apollo Q10 - but the competitive price and impressive feature set definitely catch the eye with the A10, and with OneOdio being a specialist over-ear vendor, rather than a TWS manufacturer going off on a tangent, this has been a review I've been really looking forward to doing, having put the product rigorously through it's paces over the course of the last few weeks. There's no dedicated noise cancellation here, of course, but sound isolation is pretty reasonable. Thanks to many ports, you can also share the output by plugging in more than one cable at a time, which is ideal for letting someone listen in on your work or simply sharing a tune.

On the other hand, extra bass from the ANC OFF mode helps balance out that slightly aggressive higher frequencies. Treble Bouncing around my music library it soon became obvious that the A10s shine in Pop, R&B and Dance rather than Jazz, Folk or Classical. It’s very much a case of being better at some genres rather than being bad at others, though. Coltrane’s “Love Supreme” still sounded good, as did Myrkur’s outstanding new album “Folkesange”. For me, the A10 are a pleasant listen, with good detail and adequate resolution - it's a shame there's no app for users to tweak the sound to their own personal preference, and hopefully this will come in time, at least for iPhone users who don't have the benefit of Wavelet to call upon. Note that another upside of listening wired is that you aren't using any of the battery life, but at the same time you can't access the ANC modes. Crank up the volume on an album like Robyn’s “Bodytalk Part 1” and the A10s are in their element, the pumping bass coming across hard and clear.

Firstly, these headphones have impressed us with the build quality and design. The unit feels really quite premium and all the buttons are nice to press. The ear padding is very comfortable and the cups fit comfortably over all types of ears. Having both wired and wireless functionality is always appreciated, for those times when you leave home only to realise that you've forgotten to charge the headphones; for those long trips away from civilisation when battery life might not be sufficient; or simply to enjoy the best sound possible. A wired connection still trumps Bluetooth audio and will probably continue to best it for quite some time. When you've got big-sounding, punchy, clear 40mm drivers capable of satisfactorily reproducing Hi-Res Audio, as you have with these A10s, you might well opt to listen wired more often. It retains control and speed, but it’s much quieter. You can still hear some rumble, but only when you truly focus on what you’re listening to. Midrange Control is also via physical button, not touch control. For many people this will be a good thing, as the accidental triggering of unwanted actions simply by brushing the surface of an earpad is a well known irritation. The A10s have physical buttons for ANC, volume, audio source and power.

TaoTronics’ budget SoundSurge 60 headphones are well made but blighted by a muddy, wayward bass, while Anker’s Soundcore Life Q20 perform well wirelessly but poorly when you use the bundled auxiliary cable. At OneOdio, everything revolves around excellent sound, tapping the visceral power of music for all. We have infused decades of experience and passion into creating music to life. Fueled by cutting-edge tech and unwavering passion for quality, we create high-end headphones and audio equipment designed to elevate your listening experience. So far we have firmly planted the OneOdio flag in the DJ, Monitor, ANC and HIFI industries. Besides, we are also devoted to the high-tech consumer electronics industry-sports open earbuds. Bass is to the fore, although sometimes just a little woolly but there’s plenty of detail to be heard as long as the source is good. I don’t know about balanced, but they do have decent detail in the highs, and the mids, while recessed, are more accurate than some other headphones I have heard at this price. I would say the low-end is definitely deep, but there is a midbass elevation that I would call more than slight. At the end of the day, I liked the Koss better for the types of music I enjoy the most, like Jazz and acoustic. The richer mids made vocals and instrumentation more musical and lively, which I loved. The mids on the OneOdio sounded a little cold and recessed in comparison.

Make A Clear Call

These headphones handle single side monitoring well, so if you need flexibility, you've got it. (Image credit: Future/TechRadar/Jennifer Allen) OneOdio Monitor 60 review: Features They’re comfortable enough for daily use, have good active noise cancelling performance, more than adequate battery capacity, and excellent microphone quality. Indeed, the mere fact the A10s use a USB-C charge port is worthy of applause. I won’t buy anything that requires carrying two charging cables with me when I travel.
