Over the past year, the Vera cast and crew have been spotted on location at a variety of different places all over the region. Almost as it was confirmed that production had started on series 12, eagle eyed fans spotted filming taking place at Amble at outside of Morpeth larder.

The bus featured in this episode of Vera on a service to Bebington is The Eden's Leyland Leopard, which was new in 1976. Making its appearance as a vehicle still in service in this episode somewhat strange. The bus itself has been painstakingly restored to its former glory. For those fans who reach the end of the series and are still itching for more, Ann Cleves has signed on the dotted line to produce two further Vera books, taking the series to at least 12. And in the meantime, there’s always her Shetland series and standalone crime novels, too.With huge swathes of Northumberland already aired on-screen during the drama's lengthy run, filming expanded over the years across the region, with more spots around Durham and Newcastle have been playing a role. Those two stories - Vital Signs and Where The Wind Blows, were the first to air Vera's return, each lasting two hours; before the action then moves to series 12, which will bring with it a replacement for Paul Kaye as his character, pathologist Malcolm leaves the show.

Investigating the hit-and-run death of the girl, Alex Gartside, Vera and Aiden stumble onto a setting a bit out of their usual oeuvre of rugged plains and modern architecture: a stately home. What the two victims seem to have in common is a fascination with studying moths—and with catching these beautiful, intriguing creatures.
