If for some reason you cannot hear your pad in the nightmare scenario of a bad in-ear monitor mix, at least you’ll have a visual representation of what your drum pad is doing. I think the pads are pretty much on-par with Roland’s SPD-SX and Octopad. They are a much-needed upgrade when compared to the Samplepad Pro. The Strike MultiPad boasts a whopping 32GB internal storage drive, allowing you to bring all the custom samples you’d like to your next gig. The overall handling of presets is quite well made – the LCD screen and the UI makes sense and for me was more access-able then all other e-drum stand-alone pads which I have used so far. Of course there are things which would take a little bit of time to understand and fully explore in detail. A new feature being introduced by the Strike MultiPad is the A + B sample function. This allows you to have two samples linked to one pad. In terms of effects, each channel on the Nord Drum 3P has its own Drive, EQ, and Ring Modulation effects. Additionally, there are global stereo reverb and delay effects that can be easily adjusted for each drum channel. Editing the start and stop points doneby using the two left rotary knobs. Be sure to use the zoom function to get as close to the start of the wave as you can. Once you’ve loaded up your sounds, you’re able to adjust the audio levels of each sample or loop, customise panning or add effects. There are two dials on the front panel that let you can apply effects in real time, a bit like a DJ.
