It's also so full of life that it dwarfs contemporary horror pictures of the Saw and Hostel variety. Dario and his team have obviously enjoyed working on "Mother of Tears" and you can tell because, here and there, you can see extra little loving but unneccessary touches, even to the wealth of infernal artwork shown in the closing credits.Sarah arrives too late to save her boss (who is being disembowelled by the monsters) and starts to flee the museum. Dario argento finally completed his mothers trilogy in 2007, ive seen suspiria, and inferno i recently saw, which was good but not brilliant, it certainly had that argento feel and look, Mother of tears, for me, not being able to remember suspiria, stands up really well, certainly next to inferno, it still has the english language, which i never fully understood, especially considering rome setting here and of course, italian charactors, but past that it works, its certainly gory too, with that argento touch. It's a brave move and the lowish budget doesn't quite pull it off and this would be my main criticism. This movie will always be a horror fan favourite mainly due to the amazing amount of graphic gore, plenty great kills in this movie and they are quite unforgettable, very decent budget practical effects too mainly, the casting is all good, some of the acting can be a tad cheesy but its forgivable for such a crazy wonderful story that only Argento can conjure up! OK, if the horror you like has numbers after it (SAW 1 2 3 4) you probably wont like it, but if you fancy something like Tarkovsky with gore then give it a try (but please watch Suspiria and Inferno first).Guts and gore are Dario's forte and, amongst many instances of horrific death, you have a FULL Vlad-style impaling with an uncomfortably long spear of my favourite actress in the film, plus a strangulation by intestines, and the throwing of a baby off a bridge.

Asia Argento just cannot act convincingly at all, there's little care taken into making this as stylish and unique as Suspiria or Inferno. She uses this to avoid a police detective, though she is forced to kill a witch, Katerina, who catches and corners her on the train.
