Screwfix Community Forum. Home Forums > Screwfix Community Forum > Other Trades you add depends on the temp, all i can say use it very sparingly because you can waste a lot if you overdo it.cut the fibreglass mesh ready, lay it on the board and roll the loaded roller over the fibreglaas sheeting until its inpregnated with resin and carry on. GRP/Fibreglass Roofing. Feb 2023 - Plumbing shop "independent" plumber turns up ... he says it's the waste and needs to smash tiles off to get full access. Temperature: any work with resin should be done at warm temperatures ideally around 20ºC, as this ensures the resin will cure correctly. Resin will not cure adequately below 15°C and may require catalyst concentration adjustment. Temperatures above 30ºC may see curing that is too fast. Typically, a polyester roller is used for most applications, although a paintbrush may be required for smaller regions or hard-to-reach areas. Excessive amounts of resin form a brittle layer and often fracture and splits, exposing the underlying surface to water ingress.

Avoid conditions when inclement weather is due including formation of frost or dew onto surfaces unlikely to have cured before that presence. Dust and grease: any impurities present on the surface – or in the surrounding atmosphere should be reduced as much as possible. Resin bonding and curing is greatly affected by impurities.

Topcoat resin also requires catalyst (hardener) addition for curing. Using a safety dispenser, add MEKP catalyst in set amounts – typically 20 mL of MEKP catalyst per kilogram of resin. The creation of a fibreglass lining or coating should be performed in a clean, dry area away from other persons and instruments. Cured resin takes around 30-40 minutes to harden at room temperature and longer when colder. The correct amount of catalyst should be added because: Never use under 1% catalyst – even when hot – as the resin will not cure. Just use smaller quantities or wait until temperatures become more workable. Griffon WDF-05 Wet & Dry Fast Curing Cement has a slightly blue colour to give an easily recognised glued state of joints which is useful in large pipework installations, as it is sometimes easy to forget to glue a joint!

Mix the catalyst and resin thoroughly prior to application. Use a clean, dry mixing instrument. A slight colour change from pink to brown should occur. Please read and understand the Material Safety Data Sheet before starting. Personal protection equipment in the form of safety goggles, gloves, overalls and where appropriate a dust mask should be worn at all times. Fibreglassing should be performed in a well-ventilated area. It is strongly advised that a risk assessment and COSHH form is completed in accordance with HSE regulations.Too much catalyst will cause a shorter pot life than the user can apply, exotherm in the laminate affecting its structural performance and often visible with a brown tinge to the applied laminate. Excessive catalyst addition can also delay curing. Note : curing (hardening) of the resin begins as soon as the catalyst has been added. It is strongly recommended that you only prepare workable amounts of catalysed resin.
