About this deal

She quite liked this aspect of her personality, the way her mood could change from melancholy to euphoric because of a breeze or a flavor or a beautiful chord progression. It meant she never had to feel too down about feeling down." The twists themselves were good, I think I expected more of a thriller than a family drama - which I guess is my fault for not doing my research before reading. It opens being deliberately coy about the events of a barbecue that took place several months previously. Clearly something important happened between Erika and Clementine's families, but the snoozeworthy-pacing, as the novel jumps between the day of the barbecue and the present, killed off most of my curiosity. Which, as it turned out, was just as well, because the answers are disappointing and the ending feels too neat. MY THOUGHTS: Unusually, I didn't immediately connect with Truly Madly Guilty, but when I did - and it didn't take long - I became totally engrossed to the point that I neglected all my other reads.

The book touched on some heavy issues, from miscarriage to domestic abuse, without losing its overall light, cheery tone. It goes without saying that being about triplet sisters made things even more interesting as most of us are intrigued by twins, triplets and so on. Moriarty executive produces alongside Tom Mazza and David Calvert-Jones for EveryWhere Studios, with Glass serving as co-executive producer. Well, this was not exactly very good. It changes p.o.v. between the 3 sisters and also has little pointless excerts from a strangers p.o.v. that is never discussed in the book. It really doesn't go anywhere and I didn't learn anything. An idyllic Australian seaside town is the setting for this frank and revealing story of domestic abuse, bullying, and infidelity centering on the lives of three wonderful women, acquainted through Continue reading »Petski, Denise (28 November 2016). What if the letter contained his deepest and darkest secret that could not only ruin the life you built together, but also destroy the lives of others too? It is a character study, no doubt about it, so for those who need action to keep them interested, TMG may not work well. The book length is a bit hefty, but as in Big Little Lies, I knew that the various revelations would not come until the very end. I'm okay with that and in fact enjoy a drawn out lead up when the writing is great. And this is. Not much of a plot to this one. Triplets with broken marriages, unfaithful husbands and unsatisfying jobs. The Delaney family love one another dearly—it’s just that sometimes they want to murder each other . . . There is a LOT going on in this book but it's a good story with a mix of sadness and humour and even a twist at the end (didn't expect that). The only thing that made me say 'oh please!!' were the names of Sophie's adoring parents, Hans and Gretal - I'd like to know what possessed her to choose these names! The story follows three women, in this case triplets, and their lives - husbands, kids, family relations. Most of Moriarty's books follow this patter, and in some cases it does gets repetitive, but this book felt fresh for some reason. Maybe because it was her first work, when she found her style. Maybe because the way the story was told brought different perspectives, I don't know, but it was very, very enjoyable. Two months later, it won’t stop raining, and Clementine and Sam can’t stop asking themselves the question: What if we hadn’t gone? The writing was okay but like I said, I didn't like two MCs so I just couldn't enjoy the story. I really pushed myself to finish reading this and I don't know why I bothered because it was the worst ending a book could have. I will still give other books of this writer a go. After collecting my thoughts, I realized the usual laugh out loud humor is not prominent in this one, and other than one or two titillating scenes, the dialogue was a little flat, and the characters did not evoke any kind of emotional response from me, until later, once I fully understood the situation. Then I was able to muster up a little sympathy, or at least understanding, for a few of the characters, while others still left me feeling cold, all of which made the book feel overlong, causing me to experience impatience, and frustration, on more than one occasion, which is something you never want a reader to feel.
