About this deal

Nothing in Miami is this old. Not even Señora Cabral, who still hobbles into my family’s bakery every Monday and was tan vieja before my parents were even born, is this old. An utterly charming read that feels like a treasured recipe that will heal and feed a broken heart.' Nina Moreno, author of Don’t Date Rosa Santos

We do not know the exact roles that the lead cast will be playing yet, but we can probably assume that Kit is going to play Lila’s love interest, Orion. Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin star Maia Reficco has been cast, likely as Lila andKate del Castillo of La Reina del Sur fame has also been tapped to star in the movie. CW: Dealing with the loss of a loved one, breakups (friendship and romantic), mental health issues - girl runs to the brink of collapse and has suffered some significant damage to her body after a break down due to the loss of her abuela. It's about finding yourself and finding pieces of you in unexpected places, making new friends at the crossroads of an old one, and food, food, food! The book, Namey said, “hails straight out of my family album,” noting that she is the daughter and granddaughter of Cuban immigrants and is grateful that she could pay tribute to them in this way. “Many places, traditions, foods, and life lessons from my childhood are woven into the story,” she added. “I tried to take the spirit of people I love, and the truths I learned about identity and legacy and reimagine them into a coming-of-age novel that teens could relate to.” I could live inside Laura Taylor Namey’s lush, vibrant words forever.' Rachel Lynn Solomon, author of Today Tonight TomorrowTwo hours later, after a near-silent bus ride followed by a totally silent cab ride, the driver drops us off at a place I’ve only seen in pictures. Unfortunately, they forgot to add sunshine. I’m shivering under a bland sky as Spencer wrestles my two large suitcases from the trunk. for some reason I just couldn't connect with Lila. I also may be biased because I had a big falling out with a Lila (no offense to all Lilas out there) but I just didn't like her that much. Which is really bad to say but she just annoyed me sometimes. But that's probably because I'm jealous cause she's a lot better than I could ever be.

A girl that says she loves food but doesn't study or try to learn things to improve and gain more knowledge? That was HIGHLY OFFENSIVE and dismissed all the hard work and time of studying that EVERY SINGLE GOOD COOK (that wants someday to be a chef) puts into their education. The shuttle bus was fine,” I say into her itchy wool shoulder. Her blond low bun is the same as I remember, but her accent sounds flatter than ever. Is this what twenty-five years in England does to a Venezuelan woman, born Catalina Raquel Mendoza? Here, in this Hampshire medieval town, with this husband, she is Cate Wallace. Cuban Enough: Our Culture is Not a Monolith by ‘A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow’ Author Laura Taylor NameyThe narration: The main character is a 17-year-old girl named Lila, and the story is told from her perspective. The narrator was a great fit for Lila and did a great job with the Spanish accent when there were Spanish words peppered here and there through the narration (I don’t speak Spanish but it sounded fluent to me). Her British accents were OK, and her male voices were OK, but her male British voices were not that great. What makes great audiobook narration for me is that it adds to the overall experience of listening to a book, or even makes the listening a better experience. The male British voices were distracting because of how unrealistic they were. Look, this is a very beautiful book and one I wanted to love because it's SO CUTE. It started out so well and if the author didn't do what she did with Africa, I'd recommend this book to everyone. I also hate that I'm giving this such a low rating because a lot of the authors personal life went into this book. But Africa is my personal life and I can't overlook her "mistakes" here. To All The Boys’ Producer Ace Entertainment Adapting Latinx YA Novel ‘A Cuban Girl’s Guide To Tea And Tomorrow’; Maia Reficco, Kit Connor & Kate Del Castillo To Lead Film’s Cast Teenage master of Cuban cuisine, Lila Reyes, is eager to inherit her family’s Miami bakery along with her sister, Pilar. But between spring and graduation, Lila’s abuela dies, her best friend abandons her, and her long-time boyfriend dumps her. Fearing Lila’s emotional health, her parents defy her wishes and entrust her summer to family and their Winchester, England inn. Like so many children of immigrants, there is a sense that first-generation children should have careers thought out, and Lila is realizing that she has power over her life’s direction. VERDICT: Readers who have often wondered about stepping outside their comfort zone can find courage in Lila’s story.”

The romance was sugary sweet. In fact, all the relationships are - it explores the complexities of friendships in a safe and gentle way, and the family relationships are healthy and lovely. Part romance, part foodie heaven, the warm atmosphere will make readers want to cook and dance and love. Call it whatever you like. A vacation. A high school graduation present. Maybe even an escape. All I know is I’m as far from Miami as I’ve ever been.I’d like to start off this review by saying I was not in a good place mentally when I read this book, and that may have affected how much I enjoyed this story. However, overall, it was a really light, and fluffy read! The Romance. It was just.... so soft and chill and romantic and real and beyond adorable. It served my slow burn romance loving heart very well. Este libro fue literal lo peor que he leído en lo que va del año. Fue doloroso leer cada capítulo porque está escrito horripilantemente. Stars - Update: I've decided to round up to 4 because 2 hours after finishing I am still thinking about the last quarter of the book and that earns an extra half star because it has left an impression. the ACCURATE nods to Miami and Cuban culture. it's normal for someone to feel hesitant when their culture is written about, and not gonna lie, I felt apprehensive about the representation. BUT WOW- Laura Taylor Namey knows what she's talking about. in my past experience, it's easy for Miami culture to come off as cheesy and try hard but the details and references sprinkled throughout the story were just the perfect amounts- like a perfectly constructed recipe.
