About this deal

The epic conclusion and the most financially successful of the Harry Potter movies was acclaimed by critics and audiences alike. In Part 2, the evil Voldemort finds corporeal form on Earth and the peoples of the Wizarding World are forced to choose sides in the final battle of good versus evil. Since Johnny Depp was forced to step down from the franchise, this trailer marks the official debut of Hannibal's Mads Mikkelsen as the new Grindelwald. It's unclear if the character's new face is part of the plot or if the audience is supposed to simply accept the recasting without explanation. Regardless, Mikkelsen's Grindelwald is appropriately sinister and powerful in the new footage. He has also convinced Credence Barebone that Albus wants him dead because Credence is actually Aurelius Dumbledore. This information is coming solely from Grindelwald, so we can't actually take what he says at face value. Yet Credence believes it, and it fuels his confrontation with Albus in the trailer. By the time The Deathly Hallows rolled around, the action stretched far beyond the walls of Hogwarts. (Image credit: Warner Bros.)

As with the Harry Potter novels, fans tend to have different opinions on which films in the series are the best. Ranking the Harry Potter movies by their IMDb user scores subsequently throws up remarkably consistent results, with all eight installments clustered between 7.4 and 8.1 out of 10.(For TechRadar's opinion on the subject, see our in-depth guide to the best Harry Potter movies ranked from worst to best.) The three Fantastic Beasts movies are clearly the least loved releases in the Wizarding World franchise. This is possibly why the second movie suffered a near 20% drop at the box office compared to its predecessor, while the third entry in the series dropped a further 38% after that (according to figures on Box Office Mojo). Wizarding World adventures await with this interactive doll of Magical Dobby the Elf! Young witches, wizards, and Muggles can relive the magic of Harry Potter with their favourite house-elf, Dobby. The Half-Blood Prince deftly balances brisk action and a foreboding tone with a light, romantic touch as the characters battle the most calamitous curse of all: Becoming teenagers. More in Books

The most successful of the three, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, made less money than all-but-one of the Harry Potter movies ( The Prisoner of Azkaban). But, seeing as it had 12 years of inflation on its side, it’s debatable whether it actually outperformed the third Hogwarts film in real terms.

Magical Dobby responds to touch with his sounds and movements. Squeeze his hand to hear phrases from the Harry Potter movies and as he interacts with you. Dobby the House Elf will move his ears, blink and move his eyes, lift his arms, and move his head! While the movies were made in the 2000s –and feature the occasional anachronism such as 21st century mobile phones or music – it’s likely they follow the same carefully crafted timeline as Rowling’s books. That places the Harry Potter films some 60-70 years after their Fantastic Beasts counterparts in the Wizarding World canon. Josh Bell is a freelance writer and movie/TV critic based in Las Vegas. He started his career as an intern at Las Vegas Weekly, where his first professional movie review was Reign of Fire, starring Matthew McConaughey, Christian Bale, and CGI dragons. He eventually worked as the film editor for Las Vegas Weekly from 2009-2018, while also working as the TV comedies guide for the pioneering (and now defunct) online outlet About.com from 2008-2013. In the UK you can watch every Wizarding World adventure on Sky Cinema. You can also catch all of the films (with the exception of the most recent entry in the series, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore) on Netflix. Rowling had concluded her seven-novel Harry Potter saga a few years earlier, leaving Warner Bros. looking at a bare cupboard. The solution of course: Make two films out of the final novel. The fans certainly won’t mind!

Once Rowling found massive success, she achieved the Stephen King-like power to publish books of any length, which she took advantage of by making the later novels in the Harry Potter series into massive tomes. Of course, readers loved having more of a good thing, but this also led to fan, ahem, disenchantment with some of the later movies as less of the literary material made it onto the screen. This enchanting interactive house elf figure is over 20cm tall. Dobby the House Elf can make over 30 sounds and phrases. The animated movement of his eyes, ears, head, and arms really brings this character to life too!Unlike the Harry Potter movies, the less magical Fantastic Beasts series has struggled to capture fans' imaginations.
