Chapters 7 and 8 were disappointing, offering obvious advice such as, "pursue as many job offers as you can," and showed little knowledge or awareness of the today's job search process. Design Thinking konseptinin insanın kendi hayatına uyarlaması kitabın ana fikri. Çok güzel noktalara değiniyor ancak kitabın yazılış biçimi çok kötü. İngilizce öğreten ders kitapları gibi. Her bölümün sonlarında evde yapmanız gereken aktiviteler paylaşıyor. Baya pdf olarak indirip, yazıcıdan çıktı alıp doldurmanız gereken formlar var, ve bunların bazılarını bir alışkanlık haline getirmenizi, haftada/ayda/yılda bir yapmanızı istiyor. The notion of failure as a useful thing comes up frequently in the book, and particular in chapter 10. In your own life, how have you “failed forward”? This actually aligns with some of what I’ve read about financial independence and early retirement. A lot of retirees find themselves suddenly dissatisfied, unaware until the moment of retiring of how much of their self-worth they’d put into their career. Hell, I’ve gone through those exact emotions in the past two years here in Berlin. But working on shifting your mindset into constantly designing your life will help squash those feelings. Summary Until now, have you received more advice (when someone is telling you what they think) when making a decision, or more counsel (when someone is trying to help you figure out what you think)? Which has proved more helpful? I love that this book starts with an assessment of your life NOW. While it would be easy to focus on the deficits that are found in that assessment, the Good Time Journal activity is meant to discover the parts of your life that you actively enjoy. I think this is the key to what makes this book different from a lot of self-help books. It’s not about filling some undefined hole in your life. It’s about finding what you enjoy about your life and designing ways to do more of it.

Bill Burnett is an award-winning Silicon Valley designer and the Executive Director of the renowned Design Program at Stanford University. Designers imagine things that don’t yet exist, and then they build them, and then the world changes. You can do this in your own life. You can imagine a career and a life that don’t exist; you can build that future you, and as a result your life will change. If your life is pretty perfect as is, life design can still help you make it an even better version of the life you currently love living. The authors advise readers to accept what you can't change, avoiding so-called "gravity problems," which, by their very nature, cannot be changed.
