About this deal

The extra aperture really does make a difference for astronomy, as it allows you to see more detail and a wider selection of targets. She has covered stories and features for publications such as Physics World, Astronomy Now and Astrobiology Magazine. Porro prisms give a delightful, three-dimensional view that not many roof prism designs can duplicate. I do however recommend them as ideal travel companions, great for wildlife observation and therefore make great safari binoculars.

Open star clusters are exquisite through the field of view, but the lower light grasp means they don't pop the way they did through the optical system of the Nikon Prostaff P7 8x42. In fact, the image contrast through the Nikon Travelite EX 8x25 binoculars seemed a bit better than through Nikon's Prostaff P7 8x42 that we were also testing, with the crater rims better defined.

While it's a good size for use in daylight, it's toward the small size for passing light through to our eyes under low light conditions. It is because of this I would not recommend them to birdwatchers, unless most of the birding you do is in wide open areas, like you find with water birds near the ocean or on lakes and dams. Like all the Nikon Travelite V binoculars, these feature multilayer-coated lenses for bright images, BaK4 high index prisms: for extra-high resolution images and aspherical lenses that minimise distortion and provide sharp images right up to the periphery. Previously, she worked for Nature's journal, Scientific Reports, and created scientific industry reports for the Institute of Physicsand the British Antarctic Survey. When he is not fiddling with one of his binoculars, you can find him playing his favorite sport Pickleball.

Nikon Travelite EX 8x25 binoculars review | Space

The focusing mechanism of larger binoculars with Porro prism design allows the eyepieces to move back and forth each time focus needs to be adjusted. The aspherical eyepiece lens of the binoculars along with reverse Porro prism design work together to make these reduce curvature that helps minimize image distortion. There's virtually no shake affecting the view, unlike the wobbly-arm syndrome that can affect stargazing through larger but heavier hand-held binoculars, thanks to the featherweight and large field of the Nikon Travelite EX 8x25 binoculars. If looking for magnification power in a small binocular, a better idea is to go for Nikon Travelite 10X binoculars. In hand, Nikon's Travelite EX 8x25 binoculars feel sturdy and well-made, with a lovely rubberized coating making them feel nicely durable. Despite the lack of light-gathering power, sweeping through the dusty track of the winter Milky Way revealed stunning views filled with stars.
