About this deal

An e-piano that reproduces the differences in tone that arise from your playing dynamics and even simulates the sound of a key-off. Conjure electric piano sounds that are instantly recognizable from decades of great music. Organ You get 100 presets split across pianos, organs, clavinets, strings, brass and synth sounds. Unlike the sounds included with the B2, you get some options to change the sound to your liking. including STB1 optional stand and projections, excluding music stand) Weight 11.4 kg / 25.13 lbs. Included Items AC adapter, Music stand, Damper Pedal Accessories Stand (STB1-BK/WH), 3 pedal unit (PU-2)*, PC 550-BK/WH, PC 770-BK/WH, PC 300-BK/WH, JS-SB100-BK/WH adjustable height benches The B2 and B2SP use Korg’s NH ( Natural Weighted Hammer Action) keyboard, which is identical to the keys of the previous B1 series.

We previously reviewed the Stage 3, whose HP76 model used a lighter keybed, and that felt excellent, retaining the expressiveness of fully-weighted keys, along with a good degree of dynamic control. For example, when you depress the sustain pedal, the earliest played notes continue to sound while you’re adding new ones and the piano needs more memory to keep all the notes sounding. The strings are passable. These sounds are normally used for layering with a piano, but that mode isn’t present on the B2. In isolation, this sound is limited in its application. Korg, in no event, will be liable for the direct, derivative, collateral or consequential damage caused by the use of or the inability of using the Licensed Program (including but not limited to damage of data, lost commercial profit, interruption of work, lost commercial information), regardless of the degree of damages, and even if Korg was aware of the possibility of such damages or the possibility of a claim for damage from a third party in advance. The Korge B2 has a 3 Month Premium Skoove Plan. It is an online piano tutorial platform that’s gaining traction, and the Korg B2 comes with 3 months free.

In summary, the Korg and Yamaha pianos were clear winners in the sound department, while the Casio and Korg have more to offer than the Yamaha in the way of features. Taking all that into account, the Korg B2 edges in front of them all, making it our top choice entry-level digital piano. As always we recommend you try them all out for yourself to see and feel which one is best for you! What We Liked:

Although Korg hasn’t focused primarily on digital pianos, its extensive experience in instrument manufacturing guarantees that their products always have a certain level of polish and quality. Three models make up the B2-series, which is one more than the series it replaces. This applies to the normal B2, the B2SP (which has a 3-pedal layout in the form of wooden furniture) and the compact B2N (which loses a full 2 kg (4.4 lbs) in weight). In the event that Third Party Software is supplied, you agree to be bound by and to observe any terms and conditions relating to the use of such Third Party Software. You get a reverb and a chorus effect, both of which have unchangeable, hard-coded settings. Korg claims the presets are tweaked to optimal settings, and I’ll agree. The included software – Scoove, Korg Module LE and the Korg Gadget LE – make this model good for piano learning, as do the built-in metronome.

Korg shall not be obliged to provide support services for any Third Party Software supplied (whether relating to operating methods, defects, or otherwise). Korg reserves the right to make modifications to the Licensed Program and to the support services set out in clause 7 of this agreement (referred to in this agreement as “the Services”) without prior notification to you. The key action and tones on this piano are excellent, and it is well-made. You will undoubtedly benefit from this entertaining and pleasant piano whether you are a total novice or an intermediate player. Differences The Korg B2 has an app called Korg Module. It is an app for iOS, and it has a high-quality library of sounds that you can plug it into the USB to Host port. As mentioned before, the Korg B2N features a lighter-touch keyboard for those who aren’t looking for a full-weighted digital piano. I am impressed with Korg’s flexibility here as I haven’t noticed many other piano makers doing the same. So B2N is the lightest keyboard of these – it weighs only 9.3 kg (20.5 lbs). But I always recommend fully weighted keyboard, so B2N is not my choice. Korg B2SPThe metronome can be turned on/off with one touch. There's a touch control function that gives you three levels of adjustment for how your playing dynamics affect the sound (light, normal, heavy), letting users perform with a response that suits their own style. Also provided are settings for two effects: reverb and chorus. In the Box

The comments we shared for the B1 still apply here. Korg has once again created a digital piano that is no-frills (though one might say bare bones is a more accurate descriptor), though it certainly sounds amazing. Instead B2 has so called Partner mode, which can split the keyboard into two equal parts and allows teacher to play along with the student with the same sound. Partner mode is similar to Split mode, the difference is that in Partner mode you can’t select different voices for left and right keyboard zones. This instrument uses a Natural Weighted Hammer Action (NH) keyboard that reproduces the same feel that results from the hammers on a real acoustic piano, where the low register is heavier and the high register is lighter. The keybed is sensitive and responds to nuanced touch at the tip of your fingers. Nice feature in PX-160: if you are learning some demo song from the piano internal bank, you can turn off left or right hand of the performance and play it yourself – very useful while studying. However, the limited functionality of the B1 remains and is a massive downside to the B2, especially since other digital pianos have nearly standardized these extras. USB cable sold separately for connection to your PC, and a USB cable + Lightning-USB camera adaptor (both sold separately) for connection to your iPhone or iPad. AUDIO IN The 1/8″ headphone out enables you to practice without disturbing the people around you. It also doubles as your main output for use with external amplifiers and speakers.
